How to unlock the STAGE 3 achievement in Pixel Gladiator - Definitive Guide
After much trial and error, here is what I did to get this achievement wave by wave -- as well as some tips.
Tips
- Damaging enemies before they reach a certain points grants no $. If using a drone or flamethrower, keep this in mind. If using the LT flameflower attack, be mindful of those in the back of the line that my take damage.
- Continue to fire 2-3 LT attacks with the flamethrower then move to the other side. Do this repeatedly until the giants and crabs are down. The dinosaurs are not much of a threat. Just stand back and shoot the bees that fly around and attack you
Wave-by-wave
Wave 1 - Purchase the Drone and Flamethrower
Wave 2-4 - Save $
Wave 5 - Add a wall right, with high turret and add extra Life
Wave 6-8 - Buy the grenade launcher and use the LT attack to dominate everything! Also, make as many wall upgrades as you would like (ensuring you will have enough to buy rocket boots after Wave 9
Wave 9 - Buy the rocket boots
Wave 10 - Watch for the flashing part on the top and bottom of the screen to know where the boss will spawn. Move to the side with the most room for avoiding his attack. Use the boots to hover and dodge. Use the LT grenade launcher attack to damage. You can keep damaging even as it's retreating! Keep this in mind to get a few extra shots in while on the ground

Don't buy anything for the first three waves. Finish them using the LT of the pistol. You're going to keep your 5000 starting money, earn 2000 from waves 1-3, then buy the grenade launcher at the end of wave 3 for 7000. Any purchases outside the grenade launcher will make it unaffordable at the end of wave 3. You need it going into wave 4.
Wave 1 and 2 go the same way. Start by going to the right and firing two LT shots. Run to the left side and kill it using LT. Return to the right side and kill it once the left is done.
Do wave 3 like 1 and 2, only instead of killing the entire left side, kill all the melee guys, then do the same on the right side. Then finish off the bomb throwers - this last bit of wave 3 is the only somewhat challenging part of the run.
With your 5000 starting money plus waves 1-3, you have enough for the grenade launcher for 7000 at the end of wave 3, prior to starting wave 4. Buy it in order to have the grenade launcher in-hand at the start of wave 4.
Waves 4-9 are auto-pilot - here's how I went about it. Treat the grenade launcher LT like a super pistol LT. Start on the right and fire one LT into that side. Go to the left and fire an LT. Reload and wait a sec so the enemies are in money making range, then fire a few more LTs to kill that side. Then go kill the right side.
Spend all your money after each wave. I recommend a buying order of extra life, drone, walls, low turrets, auto turrets, defense upgrades, top turrets, low then top upgrades, defense upgrade 2s, top mega-turrets, rocket boots, then earth fires. Whatever you most prefer works here - all that's important other than the grenade launcher is extra life.
The last boss is a vine creature that pops out of the floor and ceiling. When the fight starts, keep moving left or right so that you aren't hit by the boss emerging. Particles appear on the floor and ceiling to show where it'll pop out. It's easy to avoid. Keep a good distance, aim in the general direction of the boss, and spam RT. The boss takes up the entire vertical of the screen and is hard to miss. Focus all your attention on dodging the two slow-moving orbs while attacking. When the boss recedes into the floor and ceiling to reposition, move consistently in one direction to dodge the emerging again. Repeat till dead.
The only other attack is some released small minions, but the collateral fire from the grenade launcher's RT will kill almost all of them. They're hardly a threat. Just dodge the few that manage to get close, if that ever happens.
If you're feeling at-all frustrated using the pistol LT for waves 1-3 please refer to the flamethrower solution; I tried it out and it is also very effective. This solution leads to a grenade launcher for waves 4 and 5 and more money for upgrades from only buying the grenade launcher as its benefits, causing all waves after 3 to be easier. Both are good options; go with whichever feels more effective for you.

@Diego I just re-did Arena III to confirm this guide still works as of June 28th, 2021 - it definitely still works and remains the easy way to beat Arena III. Any update to the game did not make this guide obsolete. It took me two tries - first try I was a bit too cautious about doing damage on wave 3. The very last part of wave 3 remains the only remotely challenging part of this achievement.
You mentioned wave 4 being too hard without the flamethrower. You should have the grenade launcher on wave 4 using this solution, which is massively superior to the flamethrower. I updated my guide to make it overwhelmingly clear that you buy the grenade launcher at the end of wave 3, before starting wave 4, since it seems like there was a misunderstanding there. The flamethrower remains far far weaker than the grenade launcher in the most current update. That's the crux of the guide - beat the very easy waves 1-3 with the pistol, to get access to the very overpowered grenade launcher for wave 4, skip the waste of money flamethrower in order to do so.
If wave 3 is proving impossible for you with just the pistol LT, then the flamethrower method could work, although it was much more of a struggle not having the grenade launcher on wave 4+. Once you have the grenade launcher it's game over. You could go without a single other upgrade and still finish. Putting off getting to that point by purchasing the flamethrower for waves 1-3 seems like a bad idea to me, as waves 1-3 are very easy, and the waves after them are not (without the grenade launcher).

ARENA III is fairly easy with the GRENADE LAUNCHER. You start off with 5000$, all you need to do is earn an extra 2000$ to get your GRENADE LAUNCHER. Afterwards make sure to exploit your secondary weapon mode. Once possible, invest in upgrades such as HEALTH and ROCKET BOOTS for maneuverability. A hint: the secondary mode of the GRENADE LAUNCHER can shoot through your fortifications. So take cover behind the wall and shoot away.
After amassing a lot of money in Wave 9, I spent all my money on fortifications and AUTO-TURRETS. You can buy the PLAZMAGUN if you want to, but I stuck with the launcher.
Anyhow, the boss is supereasy. Just keep your distance with the rocket boots and spam some grenade shots. Watch the floor though, the spot where the boss will spawn will be shown by cracks in the floor.

Beat Arena 3. Video guide here (28:53):
This original 1000g was about 1 hour. THEN IT WAS UPDATED to be harder. (2-3 Hours)
Most recently, me and Xitilon have been doing an Experiment to see if Achievements effect sales.
SO IT WAS UPDATED AGAIN! **Now it is a 5-10 Minute Completion**
For this Achievement, we need to START "Stage 3" AKA "Arena III"
*Before the Update, we were required to COMPLETE Stage 3.

Similar to Stage 1, but more enemies and tougher ones too. Best method by far: don't buy anything until Wave 4. If you need to, you can buy a wall for one of the sides, maybe 1 for each if you REALLY need it (to slow down the bad guys). Save your money for the Grenade launcher. Then it's easy as you upgrade walls and turrets but you NEED to save up for the launcher.
