How to unlock the Flawless achievement in Planet of Lana - Definitive Guide
If you have already finished the game then you absolutely MUST start a new game on a fresh save slot for the flawless run achievement. Using chapter select on the same save slot will not work! You must have no deaths BEFORE finishing the game and reaching your sister at the end of chapter 13.
I HIGHLY recommend turning off Quick Time Events in the accessibility menu.
I can confirm that pressing start and reloading check point when you get spotted by an enemy or before you fall to your death does work. If you do happen to die then just dashboard out of the game, completely close/quit game and resume. It will put you right back where you left off. The game doesn't save when you die, it saves when you reach a check point. You can see when the game saves by the icon at the bottom right hand corner. Overall this makes a deathless run relatively stress free.
Good luck!

Well, this achievement is really a challenge, as it is more complicated to unlock, I was only able to unlock it by playing without using any automatic save, as I saw that some people said that they managed to repeat the stages or using the save by pressing start, but for me it did not release zero several times and I just got it like this. the game is sensational and does not get sick is very worth it.

Dashbording did not work for me. You have to delete from the cloud.

I can absolutely confirm that whenever you die, just dashboarding > quit game > reload game > continue, will absolutely still get you this achievement. I did it around 10 times throughout my play through, and this achievement popped just before the end credits - no need to mess around with cloud saves and deleting local saves on the console etc!
Just make sure that you don’t continue after you die and trigger the next save point - dashboarding and quitting the game needs to be your go to move after dying! I accidentally continued after a death early in the game, but I dashboarded and quit the game after the game loaded me back in and I realised what I’d done, and I still got this achievement to pop, so you can still get this if you accidentally reload your checkpoint after a death.
Also, when I was spotted or was falling to my death, but hadn’t yet actually died, just pausing and reloading checkpoint absolutely works (again, I did this several times through my play through and still popped this achievement)!
Good luck!

This requires you to not die during a playthrough.
It's not as tough as it sounds, though. If you already died, you should restart in a new slot. I suggest using the first slot for this, as reloading will be easier when you die. Restarting a chapter won't "fix" your save. If you die in a save slot AND reach the next checkpoint, that save won't unlock this achievement for you at the end of the game. You just have to exit to the main menu before the game saves, which only happens if you progress.
There is no need to mess with cloud saves or rush to exit to the guide or use Task manager to kill the game if you die either. You CAN die, but every time afterwards you should simply pause the game as soon as you regain control of Lana, exit to the main menu and continue from there. Do NOT use the restart checkpoint option if you die. The reason for this is simple: the game only saves when you make progress (quite regularly), and it shows the symbol resembling a leaf/arrowhead in the lower right when it does (as the game clearly states when booting up). The "running Mui" symbol is for loading, not saving, so don't worry if you die and you see that animation.
Every "failure state" counts as a "death", including being caught by the chef at the beginning of the game or letting Mui fall into water. Being detected by robots does NOT count (unless they also kill you, obviously).
If you are paranoid, you can disable QTEs in the options. I did not, and there are only 3 instances near the last third where there are any QTEs, and they are very easy to do. You can fail these also and return to menu and continue.
It should unlock along with the achievement for completing the game as the credits start rolling.
I wrote this guide because of the other two guides here, and had a hunch based on the replies that the game wasn't forcing a save when you died. I died about every single time you can during a normal playthrough (dozens, at least), and it unlocked for me no problem.

Highly recommend this solution. Simple and to the point. Had to play through a second time in one go since this achievement didn't pop the first time using the other guides. Took a little over 3 hours and I died 14 times. Completed on 9/30/23.

Did this on my first playthrough and it worked perfectly fine! I probably died 10+ times and just backing out to the main menu is enough. No need to dashboard or anything.
Thanks for the solution!

I wanted to make this guide, because I see a lot of people struggling with other guides (dashboarding or restarting checkpoints right before a death etc). For a lot of people it does not seem to work. It also requires very precise timing and your window is very short. I have provided a safer way and a way with a 100% success rate down below.
In order to get this achievement you can not die even once during your playthrough. Getting spotted by enemies is no problem, as long as they don’t catch you or your cat/monkey friend Mui (who also can not die).
I am not going to write a comprehensive guide, but I want to give 2 essential tips which will make your life a breeze, instead of a living hell since the jumping mechanics and controls in this game are pretty finicky and will get you killed often if you are not extremely careful.
1. Turn off Quick Time Events in the accessibility menu! Not having to worry about fast QTE’s is a must and will save you a lot of unnecessary stress.
2. There is a way to bypass the game’s detection of registering a death. Multiple people have made guides and have provided excellent tips how to save yourself from having to start over entire chapters (which I have done way too many times before I found this trick) but this tip is so much better and you don’t have to worry about timing. What you have to do is: as soon as you think you are in a scary/difficult part of the chapter where death lurks around the corner and you see the autosave icon in the bottom right corner press start and exit to the main menu. After that press the guide button and close the game. Restart the game, press play and press resume. Doing this created a cloud save. As soon as you die, press the guide button, hover over Planet of Lana, press start, go to manage games & add-ons, go to save data, click on your profile picture and press delete from console (DO NOT press delete everywhere). As soon as you did that the game will close. Launch the game again and let the game synchronize the cloud save you just made, go to play and press resume. You will start from your most recent auto save and you can continue the game. The game will not register the death since you loaded your most recent cloud save. If you die again, rinse and repeat the steps.
This has helped me a lot and it will only take 1/2 minutes to follow the steps. I have died 10+ times and still unlocked the Flawless achievement this way. I hope this guide will help, it saves you from having to replay entire chapters over and over and over again.
Good luck! :)

Thank you man! I died on the last jump to go to the white core and died... I managed to quickly delete from the console and load back on... I finished the game like "we never know" and the two last achievements popped. I whish you all the best

Thanks for the solution, it worked perfectly when done right. I had died on an early section and didn't do the trick right so the game saved it and the cheevo didn't unlock when the credits rolled. However, after reading that deaths are chapter specific, I went back using chapter select and redid that entire chapter without dying. Still nothing so I was ready to quit and do a fresh run when I decided to load up the final chapter. As soon as the credits rolled again it unlocked!
So if you're stuck, go back and clean up chapters you're not sure about and watch the ending again. Good luck!

if you die during your playthrough, after you respawn you can just exit to main menu and resume, you don't have to fully close the game. The game does not save when you die. If you die and then progress far enough to hit a checkpoint without quitting/resuming beforehand, then you will have to start over.
*MISSABLE*
As the description says, this achievement requires you to complete the entire game (all 13 chapters) without dying. However, you CANNOT use Chapter Select to mop this up after beating the game. If you beat the final chapter with any deaths on your save file, this achievement is void on that save. You'll need to start a new save file to try again.
There is one minor thing you can do at the start of a playthrough to help slightly, and that's to turn off QTEs in the accessibility options. There are only around three QTE sections in the entire game, and they are very easy if you're paying attention, but turning them off just turns those moments into cutscenes, saving you a bit of worry there.
To be clear, the following things void this achievement:
Thankfully, there are a few easy ways to avoid voiding this achievement on your playthrough, making this pretty simple for anyone to unlock. It's important to note that the game only saves when you reach a checkpoint. The game does not auto save when you die. You can therefore exploit this setup as discussed below.
There is unfortunately no way to know how many deaths you have on your save file, if any. However, be conservative using the above workarounds and you should be readily able to complete your first playthrough with no deaths and unlock this achievement.

- If you aren't quick enough and you do die/get caught, use the guide button on your controller and force close the game app entirely. Relaunch the game and you'll be back at the same checkpoint with no deaths
- If you somehow manage to get caught/die AND still progress and get a checkpoint, all hope is not lost. Quit out to the main menu and, using Chapter Select, restart the current chapter from the beginning

If you die, you don't have to restart the game, just start the chapter again. The trophy drops.
