To get to max xp you will have to complete quests off of the quest board. There is 1 in each of the plant and zombie bases. These look like a big notice board. Press b to view the board then there are 3 tabs zombie, plants and multiplayer. To select one of these hover over the desired quest and press a. To delete the quest if you have chosen a wrong one press y.
Every day there will be new challenges added to help you if any are difficult or time consuming. These range from such tasks as kill x amount with... To capture x amount or deny 10 orbs etc etc
There are 4 increments from the base of 1.0. 1.25, 1.5, 1.75 and 2.0. I have t got as far as 2.0 yet to confirm if this is max do or not yet so will need confirmation.

What causes it to drop back down? Does it reset each day? Or does it tick down over time if you don't complete quests? Or what?

it decreases by 0.25 every day i think. I had 1.75 yesterday and now i have 1.50

It definitely drops a 0.25 "tier" at a time. But I can't tell yet if that is each day or just whenever the quest board resets, which is longer than one day. Can anyone confirm? I have this achievement now, but I'd still like to know the answer to this question.

I'm also wondering when this drop, the quest board has reset on me quite a few times but I haven't gone down yet. Maybe it's if you go a day without completing any progress towards 2.0?

I'm really confused by this achievement, it's been at least 2 days since i've reached 2.0 multiplier, still completing quests, yet this achievement won't unlock.
Am i missing something ?

This has also happened to me Tms45, I did the last quest I needed to get to 2.0 but it didn't go up, then I got off for the night, at the next day when I went on, it was at 2.0 like it was suppose to be, but no achievement, and the board has reset on me I think 3 times now, and im still at 2.0, that being said, I have been doing the quests still.

I have a weird problem in regards with this achievement. My multiplier went up to x2.0 as part of a double xp event. It didn't unlock the achievement and the event was supposed to be there for just the weekend. That was nearly a month ago...
My XP multiplier has not reset and is still comfortably sitting at x2. Which is nice for levelling and all that but I am sort of trying to get it to decrease so I can get it to x2.0 again and pop this achievement. To no avail so far.

Just popped for me. They had a max xp promo going on so everyone was at 2x regardless. I didn't play for a few days afterwards and let my multiplier go back down to 1, then started knocking out quests and got it. A friend of mine who has played every day since the xp event did not have his achievement pop, so I'm guessing you'll have to sit it out for a few days and build your multiplier back up.

The experience event lately was supposed to end n June 8th I thought, but my exp multiplier is still at 2.0 and hasnt moved. I will do my new quests tonight so I can hit my 200 stars, then will have to quit playing for a couple days in hopes my multiplier will start going down. Nothing wrong with bonus experience, except when it breaks an achievement and doesnt allow you to complete a game :o(

I stopped playing the game for 2 days exactly and was able to get the achievement afterwards. My multiplier only reset to 1.75, which funny enough I thought I only needed to do one more quest, but I ended up having to do 5 in order to get the achievement. As long as your multiplier is reset to a different number, you can get the achievement no problem.
Mina also dropped To 1.50 after a couple Days. You need To complete 5 challenges To increase Your multiplier once

My multiplier went down to 1,75 today, decided to complete a few quests to see if i would get better luck this time, reached 2,0 multiplier and got my achievement.
My theory is the multiplier was glitched for a few days as nobody go this achievement for 3 days on TA, therefore the achievement was unobtainable.
I would recommend you to not play for a day so your multiplier can go down and then reach it again, hopefully you will have the same luck as i did Krystal Moon.
