How to unlock the Master Explorer achievement in Poi - Definitive Guide

There are 101 Explorer Medallions in the game. The Book will only show 100. When you've collected all the medallions, complete the game. After the credits, the Master Explorer will reward you with the final one that unlocks this achievement.

Explorer Medallions are won through challenges in each level, collecting all the fossils and locations for each level, completing the challenges, and 1 per 5 golden gears found and turned in.

How do you get the final one when you finished the game before getting 100 medals?

Edit: Nevermind, when you quit and re-enter the game you can talk to the adventurer and he will give it to you anyway.

There are 101 Explorer Medallions; 100 appear in your book. The 101st is given to you after you beat the game (and possibly acquire all 100 of the other medallions; I'm not sure, as I beat the game only after acquiring every medallion).

Earning Explorer Medallions is the main objective in Poi. For this trophy, you will need all 101 Explorer Medallions in the game. You can check which Explorer Medallions you have in the Explorer Book.

The breakdown for all the Explorer Medallions is as follows:

  • The Forest - 5
  • Cozy Canyon - 7
  • Mount Magma - 7
  • Sinking Sands - 7
  • Crystal Cavern - 7
  • Snowland - 7
  • Golden Gears - 10
  • Mini Games - 12
  • Tasks - 10
  • Locations - 4
  • Fossils - 4
  • Challenges - 20
  • Bonus - 1

Once you get the 100 Explorer Medals that the Explorer Book keeps track of and obtain the Milky Way Globe, you can talk to the Master Explorer for the Thank You Explorer Medallion. This one does not appear in the Explorer Book and is simply added to your total. I highly recommend earning the 100 Explorer Medallions before entering the Mysterious Gate and finding the Milky Way Globe, but if you find the medallions after that, quit out to the main menu and reload the game to prompt the conversation with the Master Explorer for the last medallion.

Total medallions 101
101 will be given at the end of the story, the rest are received before the final boss or in the postgame.
Getting medallions on hard (New game+) is much more difficult because... there will be one heart and the world will turn upside down.
