How to unlock the 9 Ball Champion - Hardcore achievement in Pool Nation FX - Definitive Guide
MAJOR EDIT: According to eViL mOnKeY 270, the latest patch has changed the way the replay frame cheat works. "The glitch still works but not by pausing, going to instant replay and pressing start like usual. Instead as you take the shot to win the frame, hold b and soon as the new frame starts press left on the d-pad to replay the last shot."
To unlock this achievement, win in the final of the 6th location's tournament in Hard difficulty, and this achievement will pop.
If you're having trouble, don't forget that you can have full aim on, all you need is the difficulty set as hardcore.
Don't forget that you can use the 'frame-award' glitch. The glitch goes as follows:
When you're playing, make sure that you do NOT use your two shot-replay lightning bolts in normal play. When you're on the 9 ball (or a plant, if that's the shot you're lined up for), aim it, and when it goes in, and you get rewarded a frame win, and see the next frame ready for the break, IMMEDIATELY press , 'Instant Replay', and then .
This will allow you to RETAKE the frame-winning shot. You'll notice however, that you've still got the frame win from the first shot you played.
Repeat this for both retake shot lightning bolts, and this means you can win best of 3 and best of 5 matches by using only one frame.
This also means that the best of 7 and best of 9 semi-finals and finals means you only need to win 2 frames and 3 frames, rather than 4 and 5.

So I just finished this today and I've got three suggestions for things to add to your solution (and your other ones if they apply).
1) You don't have to hold B as you take the winning shot to do the flashback exploit. You can press A to skip the shot cinematic and go to the next frame, and then quickly press B + Left Dpad. Saves a bit of time.
2) Changing the rules when starting the career doesn't void the achievement and I recommend doing so greatly, especially with checking the "No Free Ball" option. This way, on shots you know you won't pot anything, you can position the cue ball in an awkward spot so the AI can't pot anything either, handing the game back to you immediately (just remember not to get three faults in a row, or the AI gets an automatic win). The "No Cushion Need To Be Hit" should be checked also and "Num Of Cushions To Be Hit On Break" should be set to zero (I still have no clue what a "break" is).
3) Specific to the 9 Ball career, I had no idea that getting a combo shot where the 9 ball was potted automatically won the game until I was in the 5th location. It also explains why the AI sometimes won out of nowhere. If I knew this starting off, I could of saved a bit of time.

This really isn't hard at all, it just requires a LOT of patience!
Always use the aerial view (by pressing ) and always use full aim. One trick that really helped me was, on long shots, where the aim doesn't quite reach the pocket, use something with a straight edge (I used a game case) to line up the shot and nine times out of ten you will make the pot.
With the 9 ball career especially, it sometimes helped me (if I was breaking) to foul and let the AI take the break, that way I had a few easy pots and could easily clear the table without the AI being able to take a shot.
And of course, use the frame award glitch, as Dwaggienite mentioned!
Like I said, this really isn't hard in the slightest. All it takes it a lot of patience, a lot of restarts and a bit of luck. Good luck!
