How to unlock the Nosy Nellie achievement in Portal Knights - Definitive Guide

I've put this video up to help others get the Nosy Nellie achievement on Portal Knights.

This achievement might sound daunting but it is doable. You need to open all the chests, in all five Rooms, on each Rift Floor. You do not however, need to collect the crystals inside, So if your getting low on time, you can simply open the chest and run on to the next.

Please note that all Rift Floors are randomly generated and i guarantee that your run will not generate the same.

Please use this video as a guild to locate those pesky chests that you may be struggling to find.

Also note that there are several other Rooms that you can generate on your run that are not in this video but over time you will learn the rooms and hopefully find the extra chests yourself.

Putting this video together, i have spent 3 days straight running the Rifts repeatedly and there are only two or three Rooms that i'm still struggling with.

I have other captures that contain these rooms and will try to put another video up over the next few days with the extra rooms that i have managed to complete.

This video is the main run where i get the achievement

[edit 12/07/19]
This second video is a compilation of the other rooms that you might get during your run. i believe that ALL possible Rooms can be found between the two videos but i could be mistaken

Commenter 'eohjay' also makes some valid points i missed above.

"You need to get all of the chests in one run of High Rift. High Rift is repeatable, but all of the chests need to be done in the same run. Meaning, if you found 2 chests in Run A and died, you'll still have to find those 2 chests again in Run B. Assuming you generated the same rooms. Once you finish a Rift run there will be a statistics "end result" screen. Basically, you need 100% of chests on that screen. I think another good tip would be to stockpile the potions that increase your Rift timer for the run that you're prepared to go for this."

Thanks to Eohjay for this addition to improve the solution

Also note that in the first video, i highlight the gear i use and the items that i suggest you stockpile for your run, namely, Explosives, Water Bombs, Wisp Of Light, Scrolls of Revealing, Rift Stability Scrolls, Rockets, Swiftness Potions and Mighty Health Potions. These items are essential for getting through the Rooms

[Edit 14/07/19]
Time stamps for each room are now in the Youtube Comments. Thanks to Youtube commenter Trafalgar for doing the time stamps for the first video

Just in case anyone was wondering: You cannot join late on another person and get the no-dying and all-chests achievements.

I had a friend join me just before killing the Light Hollow King on floor 11 and and while she got the achievement for reaching the end of the High Rift, the other two did not pop.

Does this involve getting the chests in the low, middle AND high rifts? Does it have to be done in one run or can it be done in multiple sessions? Does it save if you get a chest in that room for future runs? Haven't touched the rifts yet much, so I'd like to know before I do much with it.

It's just the High Rift.

@eohjay - There's a level that's basically kind of a cave system that has you killing those amoeba things before the door to the switch opens. That level has 3 chests on it. Two of the chests are on the outside of the caves and can be seen pretty easily, but the third is buried under dirt just beneath a large deposit of Rift Crystals embedded in a wall. Look around for it after killing the second amoeba you come to...

I've gotten the lag thing you're describing destorying several of my runs, tho' I haven't had it happen recently. It really sucks because it seems the only thing that doesn't lag is the goddamned timer. No idea what causes it...

@eohjay i had that issue on a couple of my runs too, sadly, i've no idea what causes it. i can't see it being your speed or the mob count as the last 3 clips i made on the 2nd video, i rocketed through. i did find that it would sort it self out after about 30-40 seconds though. i know the wait can be painful and ruin a run but but my only suggestion is fast travel out of the rift and start over or use Rift Stability every chance you get. hopefully this bug is fixed in the future

Well congrats to the ones able to get this. You definitely need to put into agility. I go way to slow for this

Wow, what a beast of an achievement

You can respec your points for agility if you are too slow, or take speed potions, but you will need to pack a decent punch to defeat enemies in time

It really is just about memorising the levels, completely through practice

Thanks for the guide, it saved me a good few hours of trial and error learning

Oh my god, just read the comment regarding the game slow-down but the clock running perfectly. That ruined a few attempts for me, you are right though, you just have to sit it out

Well, I took a few months break after missing that one single chest and getting discouraged. I'm about to get back to it this week and re-memorize all of this. Wonder if it's any easier in co-op?

Wish me luck, haha.

@eohjay - It's easier solo. The timer runs the slowest when there's only one person in the game.

To note, you can teleport back to the teleport hub area after you get your 2nd chest or touch the obelisks that unlock the portal. Saves a lot of time, instead of backtracking through each area just to get back to the teleport platform. I have not got this far yet, but I tested it out in the middle rift and noticed this little detail and thought I would add this helpful tip for those having issues locking it in! I'll be going for it in the next day or so after I get my lvl 30!

This is definitely way easier than is seems at first. Once you get the proper weapons and armor in hand, and can choose to bypass all crystals, it's not hard at all. I ditched using my LVL 30 Rogue and instead used my LVL 30 Ranger as having range on enemies just made it easier.

I need to get back to this. It's been so long I'm going to have to memorize all of the chests again.

Thank you for the videos, memory is key here, but watching key points in the videos saves a lot of time in the long run, maybe improved with time references, but i know that's much of an issue for something not many players care about. One important note you may want to include in the guide is to roll everywhere, by rolling you move 30% faster and ignores underwater penalty. Makes the journey much more relaxing. By default you can only roll (dodge) when aiming an enemy, but you can change that to roll anytime.

Just got this. Other then memorizing the levels. Cape Wings/Double Jump pants & Rockets really are the golden combo. Helps save time massively and even lets skip the way plenty of levels are suppose to be done.

playing

I've ran into this issue in 3 runs now where it basically just lags like crazy and your character becomes immobile about halfways through. I'm playing on Xbox One X.

I think it might be a result of speeding through everything too fast and leaving too many enemies alive/loot on the ground. Maybe it bogs the game up?

I did a slower run afterwards and finished, thinking I unlocked the achievement, but the stat screen showed 66/67 chests. I must have forgot to click one. crycrycry

Finally got around to going back for this and I just wanted to elaborate a little on co-op mode since there isn't really much information.

A friend of mine was going for this achievement this month, so we figured we'd try it out on co-op mode since we both need it. As others have mentioned - the timer counts down much quicker in co-op. But, you also have the ability to be in two different rooms (portals) at once independently of each other. This helps out a lot. You can also have one player waiting by the exit rift while the other player finished the last chests/obelisks, etc.

Our first attempt it seemed really daunting with how fast the timer was going down. We found it hard to believe that co-op was possible. However, as we memorized the different stages everything became much, much quicker. We were able to beat a lot of the floors with anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of the timer left despite the faster countdown.

It ended up going from seeming impossible to be relatively easy. I think our full run only clocked in around 35-40 minutes. You definitely couldn't carry a person through it, though, the timer is too fast for one person to do all of the work. Both players need to contribute.

The achievement also popped for both of us at the end and we have the same timestamp. Doesn't matter if you are host or not.

Just got mine. Only have 13 agility and didn't use any speed potions. Never stopped to gather any crystals though, even from the chests I opened. You have tons of time if you just cut beelines for chests/objectives and ignore everything else.

Also, I have a probable cause for the weird lag glitch. It's the black slimes. They can bug out somehow and it overloads the system. Perhaps other enemies can too, but the black slimes are the worst culprits because their attack patterns cause them to jump at you. This is why the bugs only start happening about halfway through the run because it is at that point where the black slimes spawn in the hub world.

Why does that matter? Because the glitch gets triggered if a black slime falls off the edge of the world. There may be something else that corrupts them too though. The only time I was able to pull myself out of the lag glitch was when I killed a black slime wigging out next to me (took some doing with the horrid input delay). Also, on a different run, a black slime leapt at me, missed, fell into the abyss, and the glitch triggered about 4 seconds later. If they fall off the edge of the world, I don't think you can recover.

Note, and this is annoying, even warping to a rift won't fix the problem as the hub world and 5 rifts all seem to load at once (you can tell this by the lack of loading screen between rift teleporting). Warping to the next level would work, but glitching out right as you're approaching the end of level warp is pretty unlikely.

Solution is pretty simple...kill the f%$# out of any black slime that gets even remotely near you. I just ran past pretty much every enemy, but I made it a point to kill any black slime I saw with extreme prejudice.

Hope this helps. I personally lost 5 freaking runs to this glitch. As soon as I went on my slime murder spree, got it on the next run with no difficulties.

(I don't speak very well english so i Will talk in french just translate) salut tout le monde!

All chests must be collected IN ONE ENTRY

I will describe some tips, maybe someone will find it useful:
- I played as a thief, stealth often helps out, you can run through many mobs, and for the trophy you only need to kill those mobs that give access to chests or buttons
- Speed is everything to us, so double jump is a must-have, it allows you to save a lot of time in some rooms
- You will have to memorize the rooms . Look for chests (or watch a video where they show where the chests are in such a room) and how to get them
- Often it is not necessary to go through the room to the end to get all the chests, in this case, collect the chests and run away. To exit the level you only need to activate 3 obelisks, so you can sacrifice a couple to save time
- Play alone , the speed of rift destruction increases greatly when you play with two or more

A few tips on the resources needed to complete the passage:
  • Bobmy] . For quickly collecting crystals from walls, etc. Sold by the merchant Shelton, who is located on the island of Fort Finch, for 14 coins. You can take the merchant with you; I placed him right on the site of the High Rift near the merchant cat.
  • Fireworks . The same Shelton sells for 42 coins.
  • Light in a bottle II (for light in the dark). Crafted at Alchemy Table III from Flammable Liquid 4 pcs. and Ice lilies 8 pcs. Lilies and liquid can be purchased from Alchemist Rigolf. It is located on the island of the Sea of Escapes. You can also take it with you. I placed it at home near Alchem. table. In theory, you can put it together with the table on the same site of the High Rift.
  • A strong healing potion is sold by the same Alchemist Rigolf, in an endless quantity.
  • A powerful healing potion is sold by the cat in the forge between floors, 6 pieces at a time.

Video guides in which the author showed all possible rooms at each stage:
First ;
Second .
The first video shows a complete walkthrough of the rift with collecting all the chests (the author of the guide was in no hurry, you can do it much faster). The second video shows the passage of all the remaining rooms that he did not come across in the first video. There are time codes for each room in the comments.

As for the build, it seems to me that you can go through any late-game build convenient for you. The main thing is to have double jump boots to make life easier.
Personally, I completed the rift as a thief wearing high rift boots. I chose skills to increase the effect of stealth and increase speed in stealth mode. This helped to go faster through some stages where there was no need to fight.
