What you have to do here is change the equipment you start with in terms of woods, irons, wedges, putters and balls.
With XP you earn, buy the packs in the store (Y button), until you have a piece of equipment in each slot. Obviously, buying Amateur packs will help speed this up, but probably wont yield any good clubs in the long term! When you have a club/ball variation in every slot, before you start a round, select the clubs, and change each one.
This will come with time (you can only use XP to buy packs anyway), so no real need to focus on it, if you plan on playing this for a good while.
