First play on easy.
The start of this one is quite hard. Send over your infantry to build a tower at the two broken bottom bridges, then man them with archers. Keep your infantry by the towers so they can repair and stop the tower from burning, and to attack the bridge as it is being built by enemies. Send the cavalry over the stone bridge immediately to see if they can kill some enemies, don't worry about them because they run away after a few minutes from the start no matter what. Get a commander in the town to make two physician, archers, and legionaries. Send your legionaries to the center area with a ridge above them. Send a commander and archers on stationary formation to that ridge, and some legionaries later on above the archers to protect a small path through trees.
Hold out here until the resist germen onslaught objective is complete.
Build your army back up and send them to the town you have to capture. Keep both your commanders back at your base just in case. There will be a lot of enemies in the forests on your way to the town. If you watch for ambushes and archers on ridges it won't be that hard to capture the town.

I tried it numerous times but I had no chance defending the bridge area. In the end I built 2 towers at the bottom of the ramp in the front of the village, put archers in them then built a bunch of legionaires. It looks like the faster you scout the bridge area the faster they come. So if you sit in your village you will have much more time to prepare. After I had a comfortable amount of troops I sent out the calvary and then my commander to draw the enemy in. They sent numerous waves but I could kill them with minimal losses at my towers. Then I just collected all my forces and slowly crossed the bottom bridge and went around to the left to avoid as many enemies as i can. It was easy from there.
