How to unlock the Psychostatic Efficiency achievement in Prey - Definitive Guide

You must obtain a Psychostatic Cutter in one of four ways.

1. Grab the elite one on the first floor of the Pytheas Lab in the Psychometrics office - this is a static spawn. The weapon will be there once per simulation.
2. Find the schematic for it, and craft it at a crafting station.
3. After finding the schematic for it, purchase one with sim points before starting a run.
4. Start with the Custodian character - she begins with the weapon in her loadout by default.

I would also recommend having a typhon lure. It can be obtained via random looting or by crafting.

The Psychostatic Cutter is like a lightsaber, honestly. When you hold the attack button and let go, you use about 15 or 20 PSI to shoot a projectile. It can be tricky to find three enemies close enough that a single projectile can hit all three, but I found the easiest to be the mind-controlled humans, since there will always be 3 or 4, and they'll always be close enough together.

Look for a telepath and his group of mind-controlled humans during your adventures. They'll spawn randomly, but I've seen him in the Crew Annex in the fitness center, and in the Pytheas labs in the quarantine room, so those are good places to check. If he's not there, wait for corruption level to go up and check again, since new enemies spawn with new corruption level.

Once you find him, sneak up close undetected and throw your typhon lure close enough to the enemies that they'll hear it but far enough away from you that they wont see you. Wait for the mind-controlled humans to gather round it and shoot your cutter projectile at them and hope you get all three.

If you miss or dont get all three, quit the game and restart via dashboard (dont save and exit). The game autosaves when you enter an area, so you can try again as many times as you like.

I've done this about 3 times hitting 4 humans at once and its not popped. Does it matter what the rarity is? Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Edit: turns out it was a quick resume fault! What a "feature"

I try this a few days and no achievment, bugged as hell. Have anyone a solution for this ?


Edit: If this happen you, delete the Save Data and try it again. No worry the game pulls the data from the cloud.Achievment popped instantly. This is the way it worked for me.

The easiest way to unlock this achievement is by killing Cystoids.

Approach a Cystoid Nest with a charged Psychostatic Cutter. Just after the nest explodes, unleash the projectile as the Cystoids are grouped and you should easily hit three of them.

This achievement is missable.

New to Mooncrash, the Psychostatic Cutter is a melee weapon that utilizes psionic interference to cause mental damage as well as physical damage. This weapon can be looted from the Psychometrics Office inside Pytheas Labs. Claire Whitten, the Custodian, also has one equip in her default loadout.

Once you have the Psychostatic Cutter equip, you'll want to find a Cystoid Nest around the Moonbase and step near it in order to trigger the Cystoids to emerge. At this point, hold down the melee button and once you have three or more Cystoids lined up in front of you, release the trigger to hit them with a psionic attack.

If you cannot find a Cystoid Nest or that method did not work, equip a Typhon Lure and try to find a group of humans that are being mind-controlled by a Telepath. They can usually be found in the Typhon Containment room inside Pytheas Labs or in the cafeteria of Crew Annex. Once found, throw your Typhon Lure while remaining undetected to get the humans to group up and then unleash a psionic attack with the Psychostatic Cutter.
