How to unlock the Sword Master achievement in Prince of Persia - Definitive Guide

There are a couple of combos that can be used and all are best tried on one of the first four bosses.

XXX-YXYA-YXYB-AYX
XXX-YXYA-YXYB-AXY
XXX-YXYA-YXYB-AXB

Below is a video of what it should look like.

The AYX combo is the most likely to succeed, as the X is the most likely to get blocked. One note: the combo can't end with the enemy being pushed off the edge or up against the wall.

You can't do this on the warrior, so only 3 bosses.

The one ending with AXY doesn't seem to work, as the X makes the combo end.

I don't get it, Ive done it successfully 3 different times (all on the hunter) and the achievement won't unlock...wtf, btw I'm using the AYX ending...

Just want to notice that this can be easily done against one of Ahrimans Soldiers (I did it with the one between King's Gate and Sun Temple) oh and I also recommend the first combo.

Thanks for this guide, helped me out tremendously! Also wanted to give everyone a tip.. Work on the Combo Specialist achievement first, that way you'll know the timing of the button presses better, which makes this achievement that much easier!

Very bad achievement! I wonder if it is glitchy now...Reason is i know i have done it so many times. Looks just like in the video and i also now try vs this concubine in the video. This is very frustrating when you know that you do it correctly. Guess i keep trying and hope its not glitchy. Very frustrated!

This is what helped me!

I almost give up on this then i found a Roster Teeth video and it worked. XXX YXY AYXY BAYX the only thing about this game is the combos are not fast combos you just cant bash that combo and get the achievement.When you do the XXX YXY AYXY BAYX you really have to watch the animations or it will be blocked halfway. If anyone has any troubles google http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGVE4P3xgRM and yo will hear the guy doing the combo. Thumbs up

Basicly the trick is to press x x x y x y a y x y (PAUSE A BIT LIKE 1 SECOND) B (PAUSE AGAIN LIEK 1 SECOND) then a y x. Got it first attempt after about 4 hours trying all other things.

Have successfully done this multiple times now yet the achievement refuses to unlock. Very frustrating.

That was way more complicated than it needed to be. What made it pop for me was briefly pausing between each button press. Even though you get the 14 hit combo, the game seems to be very finicky about giving you the achievement.

The combo use for sword master is xxx-yxy-ayx-yba-yx. You can use this on the concubine or the hunter when you first fight them. Please remember to press buttons slowly. I did Elite Hero's way, but was pressing them too fast and in my opinion, doing the combo wrong.

Thank you. I kept trying but it wasn't until I took my time and watched the animation that it popped. I also did this on the first soldier you come across.

This one is hard, but here is the combo:xxx xyxa xyxb ayx.
Don't get frustrated if you don't get it your first try, it's takes doing it a few times to register. Best tried on firt four bosses.

Its time to make the one and only solution for this achievement! If you are having trouble with this please check this solution out!

After I attempted this 4 hours straight on the concubine and had full animations successfull about 10 times I decided that something must be wrong.

Thanks to a comment in another solution I got it first try and this after 4 hours trying.

Here goes:

This is what helped me!

Credits go to Roster Teeth video and xCHRONIC KAOSx for his comment in one of the other solutions.


Do this vs the concubine the first time you face her!

X X X Y X Y A Y X Y (in one smoth go, not too fast, not too slow).

PAUSE FOR A SECOND

Press B

PAUSE FOR A SECOND

Press A Y X (in one smoth go, not too fast, not too slow).


Here is the video that helped me understand that I needed to pause for a second in two spots.

keep your eye on the animations whilst your doing it, it'll help alot. the final 4 moves were a lot slower than I had been doing previously

I was having difficulty getting it from a boss fight. I ended up getting it on the first soldier in the Ruined Citadal, down the path to the right of after defeating the Hunter for the first time. If you don't get it right away let Elika save you and the soldier's health will be completely replenished. Also a great spot for farming the other combos.

This achievement cannot be won in a fight with the warrior as you will not be able to throw him.

This is best done in a fight with the hunter as early as possible. It's possible against the concubine and alchemist but I had very little luck against either. The later you leave it in the game the more likely the opponent is to intercept you in mid-combo. It's also worth trying to let them back you up to the edge of the arena so that when you use the combo, you won't push them to the edge (as this will initiate a separate sequence which, even if the 14th hit is the one that pushes the hunter/other opponent to the wall, will void your achievement).

I tried doing the XXX-XYXA-XYXB-AXY and the XXX-YXY-AXY-YBA-YX ways both quite a bit. Somehow in both of those ways I seemed to always have my combo broken somehow. I read a comment mentioning a different way which is XXX-YXY-AY-XY-BAYX and I got it second try.

The 14 hit combo:

This achievement can be unlocked whilst fighting any of the bosses, but is easiest to unlock during the first fight with the Concubine.

If you'd rather unlock this achievement later, make a manual save at this point, and come back to it when you feel ready.

The combo will be stopped by any of the following:

- If the enemy hits a wall.
- If the enemy hits the edge of the arena.
- The enemy blocks your attack.
- The enemy hits you.

So make sure you keep the boss away from the edges of the arena. Make sure you do this combo in the beginning of the game because later in the game lots of enemies will deflect your attacks.

Make sure you deflect the first attack of the enemy. This will make it drop it's defense and leave them open for the combo.

The first 3 strings of the combo aren't that hard, the trick is after the combo to make sure you throw the enemy in the air with the button at the end of the 3rd string.

Now the hard part comes along, after you've thrown the enemy in the air you'll jump after it by pressing the button. When up in the air press the button so Elika jumps into the air and does a magic attack at the enemy.

After this press so you hit the enemy with the last attack and the enemy will crash into the ground.

Note:
The combination at the end of the combo is the easiest, you'll know when you've done it right when Elika joins the last part of the combo and the moment Elika hits the enemy you just have to mash the button for the combo to end.

This trophy can be a little bit tricky to master but will come with practice. To land a successful 14 hit combo, every hit must register (that means to connect and not be blocked) and the sequence not be interrupted by the enemy falling from a platform or being pushed against a wall and this includes even the final blow. It is best to attempt this on the Concubine on your first encounter with her in the Royal Palace and to attempt this when she has a full or near full health bar. Once the fight gets underway, position yourself so she is standing near enough to the middle of the arena. When she approaches, unleash your combo on her. Tip: I found that it helped me to learn this combo by doing the first four strikes to get the timing down then I kept adding the next button in the sequence and practising it. This of course requires a couple of restarts so you will need to quit out and load the game again to make sure you don't actually kill her but this is what worked best for me.

The button sequence is as follows: .

As a general rule I found that the button presses are roughly a second apart except for the two times you press , because the acrobatic attack that this launches is over in a flash so you need to press the button after it immediately.
