How to unlock the Copa Santander Libertadores King achievement in Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 - Definitive Guide
This guide was written to help you win all 3 achievements tied to the Copa Santander Libertadores campaign. One achievement for your first win, one achievement for making it through the group stage and the last one for winning the title.
Game Mode: From the main menu select Copa Santander Libertadores. In April 2012 Konami has released a free DLC/title update that added a 'Copa Santander Libertadores 2012' gamemode. This is pretty much a roster update but also supposed to fix a few gameplay issues. The achievements can be unlocked in either mode but if you have the title update you might as well pick that.
The Set-up: If you are a Fifa or PES regular you probably won't have many difficulties getting these achievements - howewer if you're still getting a feel for the game or are just interested in unlocking the achievements as quickly as possible there are a few tweaks to improve your chances. Picking a good team definitely helps - I went with 'Santos FC' as they have a good offense with Neymar, Ganzo and Borges but any good team will do just fine. Once you've picked a team you will see a screen with playoff matchups as some teams will have to qualify first. It's entirely random and you can avoid it meaning you get to play two games less. Hit RB to switch to the group stage overview and hit X until your team is put into one of the groups instead of playoffs. Finally set 'Match Level' to Beginner and 'Match Time' to 5 Minutes. This should make beating the CPU pretty easy, if you're still struggling you could also edit certain/all players of your team before starting the game. I don't think it's necessary but a keeper and a few strikers at 99 stats would certainly be helpful.
The Tournament: Now it's time to actually get the matches started. The Copa Santander Libertadores is essentially a competition between the top clubs from Latin America. If you successfully avoided the two qualification matches as described above you will have to play 6 games within the group stage as the two top teams of each group advance to the knockout rounds. From here on it's two games against the same opponent (home and away/first and second leg) starting with the Round of 16 --> Quarterfinals --> Semifinals --> Finals.
So that's your roadmap, 6 games in the group stages and 8 games in the knockout stages. Try to win all games make sure to turn Autosave off, save manually before every game and quit to main menu and reload if you're in danger of getting knocked out.
Good luck!

Nope, doesn't matter. Both will get you the achievement but I'd recommend the 'Copa Santander Libertadores 2012' as that's basically the updated version of the tournament.

These three trophies are effectively the same as UEFA Champions league winner but require you to play on a different format. The only difference between the two is that you will need to play two play-off matches to qualify for the group stages, which follow exactly the same pattern as the UEFA champions league and the final is two-legged. The total amount of game wins necessary for all three trophies to unlock is 16.
