How to unlock the World Best Player Award achievement in PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2019 - Definitive Guide
Seeing as there hasn't been a guide for this achievement for the past few seasons of PES, I thought I would add my experience in getting this achievement.
I started off a BAL with Messi, but edited his stats so he was maxed out at 109. I am pretty sure it is impossible to win the award in your first season as it is always awarded in January, therefore you have only had half a season.
I basically simmed every game, apart from a few, for example cup games, finals and games against top teams. I made regular saves throughout the first season and basically won everything available and making sure I finished top goalscorer in every competition.
I then saved at the beginning of my second season and simmed all the way to January, where I was beaten to World Footballer by either Cavani or Dybala. I actually checked their records and they were not as good as mine, so had no idea why they had beaten me!
I tried simming again and playing a few extra games but it didn't make any difference and I could only finish runner-up.
So I started a third season, made sure I PLAYED every cup final and simmed to January. Now, something important to note is that at the start of the January transfer window I was offered a new two year contract from Barcelona, having read a past solution from like PES 2014, this apparently pretty much guarantees you will be named World Footballer of the Year!
And of course it worked! When I got to the award screen, I finally was named World Footballer of the Year!
One thing to note is that I was averaging slightly over a goal a game by the time I won. I think I had like 113 goals in 108 appearances. I also had around 40 assists. Also, I made sure to win the International cup, which for Messi is the Americas cup, don't know if this makes any difference.
I don't know if it would make any difference playing every game, but I would hate to go to all that effort and end up not winning it. When I did play games I set the difficulty to Beginner and game time was 5 minutes, just to make it quick and easy.
Hope this helps some folks out!

I just sat here for 6 hours straight doing this and I didn't get the achivement... I got the 2 year contract, I got more goals than games, I played a lot of the games and someone else won the award... what a massive waste of time :/

Step 1: Choose Juventus from the Italian league, put on the difficulty beginner, 5 minutes and choose "CR7".
STEP 2: Play all games, do not simulate any game and try to score 2 goals per game, press "RB" to receive the ball, simple; play the entire season and win all the championships.
Step 3: ending the season you will not be the best in the world. As soon as you start the next season you simulate everything until you get the trophy. Simple and easy.

No need to play as matches in season 2, only simulate and the achievement is yours.

I’ll say right away that the trophy will not drop from the first season. (I played 3 players and didn't drop out even once in the first season)
We take any player from the TOP team and increase his stats to the maximum. I took Neymar, and I advise you, the championship is easy and the stats increase by themselves in the simulation.
We start his career for him. We simulate matches. If it seems to you that your character has scored few goals, then we play a full match on a beginner and score as much as possible.
For the summer of the second season you will be given the best player in Europe, but this is not a guarantee that you will be given 3M. (I received this award for Under, and ZM was given to Lewandowski).
And so we pretend until the award is presented. (it falls in January)
If you like the mode, you can even play more than half of the matches. Personally, I find the mode boring and winning this trophy was very tedious for me.

I tried for Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar. I added the stats to the maximum for everyone in the settings and, on the contrary, reduced the rest (the main competitors such as Lewandowski, Griezmann). But in the simulation of the first couple of seasons, for some reason, anyone but me received the golden ball. No matter how much you score or win. This is what helped. Created his own player with a rating of about 100. Added him to any team and immediately received a golden ball in the first season.
