If you want to get this as quick as possible + help with other achievements...
1. Start with Ginetta, they have cars in Tier 6 (Junior Challenge) Tier 5 (Ginetta GT5) Tier 4 (GT4) and Tier 3 (LMP3).
2. When you have Ginetta done choose Ford, they have a wide range of cars across several championships but you can get their affinity entirely from the rallycross events.
2b. If you're going further into the game Audi, BMW, Nissan and Porsche are other good options who all have cars in several of the higher tier championships.
Also always check the invitational events to see if you can select a car from the manufacturer you're going for by pressing Y at the screen before you load the race up.

Can you not increase affinity in invitational?
I just started this game so trying to figure it out. I have zero affinity for everything. Just did an invitational event using an Aston Martin... still zero.

Same as Brand Advocate 
but with 2 different manufacturers. For this trophy you don't have to win the proving ground event though, just earning full affinity levels with 2 manufacturers will be enough.
