How to unlock the Defending Champ achievement in Project Cars - Definitive Guide

As simple as it sounds: Win any Career World Championship four times in a row. This has to be at least Tier 2 so Formula A, LMP1, LMP2 or Endurance must be your choice. I would recommend to do it while driving LMP1 so you can combine it with some other achievements (for example Zero to Hero).

Hi,
there's a problem. i have tried with LMP1,like you suggest.
In LMP1 season there are 2 main championships: regional championship and world championship.
i have won 2 times in a row the EURO championship but no progress in "DEFENDING CHAMP" .

So, can you confirm you have to win the WORLD championship 4 times in a row and not "any championship" 4 times in a row?

I thought this would be clear because its called "Career Championship". This is the one you have won when the video with the cup from different perspectives shows. So only The world Championships count for this. But I thought it that should be logical.

there's something wrong with translations maybe.
career championship are championships where you cant skip. so if for example there are euro championship and world championship in a season, they are both career championships

But for the game one Career Championship is not done before the last race you cant skip of a year is over. So the concequence is, that only World Championships count. Now everything should be clear.

You seem to be not the only one having this issue. Unfortunately I cant tell you anything about that. Every achievement worked fine for me. Sorry

make sure to create new carreer and choose tier 2 .. driving LMP1 or Formula A after a few seasons in Tier 8 does not count ..

For me that worked. I began with Kart, Superkart, LMP3, LMP2 and in the fifth season LMP1. After four consecutive years of winning the world championship I got it.

Can you skip the races in the first championship in the season or do you need to do well enough in that as well?

in tier 2 Formula a you have to race 19 events/races .. i win first 8 or 9 and then skip the rest keeping an eye on no2 .. if neccessary i race also last race but normally with 8 or 9 wins you can skip the rest ..

Why does it have to be Tier 2? How do you know this?

The German description has this information within. I think you should get sure and do it also in this way.

Does the German description also say this in the Double Rainbow achievement? Because I just got that one by winning the Superkart twice in a row. I may as well bite the bullet and do it two more times to double check.

For some reason I am stuck on the loading screen of the first race of the world championship in the lmp1 class in Barcelona. After loading the screen turns black and that is it.
I was well underway to get the third career goal but because of this my progress is gone. I have to abandon this season and try to sign another contract on the same savefile

I've got that cheevo even without winning LMP1 World Championship 4 times in a row! I did this twice, then I've cracked out third season (by losing regional championship), then I won LMP1 World twice more and it popped! Maybe it looks like you can't just put any other championship between LMP1 wins?

9 races a season (4 EU/US and 5 world) isn't long to be fair, especially compared to Formula A. I will admit I was annoyed when this didn't pop after the 3rd LMP1 win and I realised the achievement says "defend 3 times" not "win 3 times"! facepalm

Once you have obtained "Zero to Hero", it is recommended that you stay with the same team for the next 3 seasons and win each one which will unlock this achievement. This achievement is also linked to "Hall of Fame".

This trophy is somewhat misleading as the full requirements are not specified in the trophy description (though they can be found in the in-game Historic Goals menu). You need to defend a Career Championship for four consecutive years, however only the Championships found in Tiers 1 and 2 will count towards this trophy. Even though the trophy description states three years, you will need to defend it for four years. The first year is when you earn the championship, with every successive year counting as a defend. To check which disciplines are eligible, please see the image in the trophy description for the Zero to Hero trophy.

Once you have settled upon which discipline you will be focusing upon, it is just a matter of winning its final Championship for four straight years. You can do this by choosing to renew your contract with your current team at the end of each season. You will only have to win the Driver’s Championship towards earning this trophy, not the Team Championship where applicable. You can check your progress towards this trophy in your "Driver Network Profile" under the "Career" tab.
