How to unlock the I Am The 5% achievement in Project Cars - Definitive Guide

Hi Achievement Hunters!

This achievement is a bit of a pain to unlock if you did not choose 'Pro' mode when you started the game for the first time.

If you did choose 'PRO' mode, follow these steps:

- Go Create an Online match
- Pick any track you like (Autodrome Nazionale Monza Short is only 2.45km)
- Put manual gears, no driving aids & force view from cockpit.
- Ask a friend to help you out or play with a random
- Race & Win
- Achievement unlocked!

Ok so how to get this achievement if you chose Amateur or Novice? In order to get the 'Pro' mode you will have to delete your Saved Data off your Xbox NOT the cloud. You might keep your save like some of my friends did, I personally lost my save..

I am not responsible if your save crash!

Follow these steps
1. Go to 'Home' (Dashboard)
2. Press cn_start on Project CARS, Select 'Quit'.
3. Press cn_start on Project CARS, Select 'Manage game'.
4. Go to 'SAVED DATA'-tab, Press cn_A, Select 'Delete from console'.
5. Start up Project CARS again
6. You will get a notification asking you to sync the Game Save from the 'Cloud'. CANCEL THIS!
7. Choose stop sync and continue
8. After the game has booted up you can select the 'PRO' mode.

9. Just follow the first section of this solution to obtain the achievement
---
10. After you unlocked the achievement, repeat step 1 until step 5.
11. At step 6. You will get the same notification asking you to sync the Game Save. Accept this!!
12. This will get your 'First' Save game from the 'Cloud'.

Can anyone be more specific with "no driving aids" I must be missing something as should have got this 3 times last night but no achievement. Not sure if it's an achievement issue or I missed something. I was the host and forced cockpit view, manual gears and turned everything off. Even switched assists from real to no then turned each assist off but nada! Thanks.

@Sir Erik89; That's why this achievement is called: 'I Am The 5%'. -- 95% of the players choose the easy way and 5% pick the hard way and starts with PRO. --

It says something about that you can change settings in options any time you like.... That's why I started out on easiest.
I will however do this achievement at a friends house, that way my savefile will be safe on my own console

This game is so inconsistent, bugged and broken to hell. Just add not being able to change this setting to already huge list. Thumbs up for the solution though!

It's really dumb you can't change these settings manually at any time. Good solution but hopefully they change this in the future. One choice at the beginning of the game shouldn't make things so difficult..

Thanks @NMANOZ I have the same settings, nothing on and even damage and engine failure on. I also did it from my profile, it's how I have it anyway for the career too. No driving line for sure and definitely Pro handling. I guess I will just have to keep trying!

OK so I figured out what I was doing wrong and just got this achievement! I had the driving assists allowed set to Real in the options even though I set them all to No in the lobby.

Has anyone unlockled it without deleting the save? I would do it, but maybe deleting the save and doing it in another one is preventing people from getting the 0 gs achievement to close the game

Well, don't wanna seem angry or anything but you just made a useless repair. I see here many comments that aid 0 to your solution, even so, you didnt said any. I think if my question was answered here it would help the solution. Because thats what seems to be happening. Using this method unlocks this one but you don t get the 0 points one for completing every other achievement. Like my frien Mr Mascal 77 for instants.
I read SMS might be preparing another update for the game, hopefully they include the option of changing between pro or standard.

Had an idea im gonna try. Asking a friend to delete his save, start a new file with your method and choosing pro, host a match, because with the new update you can choose between amateur,standard and pro lobbys, tweek the settings according to the description, and try out a few times... wish me luck ! wink

Can confirm that the driving aids need to be off in your profile options too, not just in the lobby options. You can hit Start/Menu from the lobby to change them right there. I couldn't get it to pop even with full damage, driving line off, etc., and then found I had Automatic gearing set in my profile options and that was preventing it from working, even though the lobby forced manual gearing.

So, this achievement seems to be patched.
I started the game on Novice, a few days back, yesterday I set the settings to be the same as if you'd selected Pro, turned off driving line and such.
Got the achievement first try.
So it seems you don't need to delete the save anymore to get this achievement.

Might be worth noting you have to change it in your personal settings under “help & options” especially where you gotta change your transmission under the “controller” tab and change it there. Other than that good guide

Assisted Braking, ABS, Traction Control, Stability control, driving line (which is what you might have on). I even turned damage on just to be safe.

I made sure I turned all assists off from my profile settings, not just the lobby.

A thought on the assists, if you have them set to real (which is what I have set for the career) are they off or only off if the car you are driving doesn't have them? So for example if the car has ABS and it's set to real will you have ABS on? Anyone know how the real assist work?

A note me and my boosting partner had to have a clean race and both cars finish to get the achievement, in case anyone is having problems popping it with the settings shown. Your guide was great to show the settings, thanks.

No, I've got an achievement with my opponent quitted after 10-15 seconds. Also I got one more in this race

I was having a hell of a time getting this to pop. Scouring the internet and found the below, which got me there. YMMV but this got me over the hump, so I'm sharing.

I made sure both lobby settings and personal settings tracked to the achievement, and then I tweaked my personal settings to reflect the below:

Hope this helps. FYI, it was in a lobby where no human ever joined it, AI fill with 5min qualifying.

Pick "PRO" settings

Create online match
Change restrictions to:
Force Interior View - Yes
Force Manual Gears - Yes
Force Realistic Driving Aids - Yes

This is an online achievement. This achievement is missable if you did not pick PRO Settings. Go into the main menu options and turn gears to manual, turn off the driving line and all driving aids like traction control, steering and braking assists, ABS off and all damage settings set to the highest settings. Load up an online public lobby and change the settings in here as well. Pick Glencairn West, 1 lap against a friend and win and this should unlock.

Note: Update 2.0 has fixed this trophy so that is no longer missable. You are no longer required to have your handling set to Pro to unlock this trophy. Thanks to ChrisW9144 for confirming this fix.

To unlock this trophy, prior to beginning an online race you want to enter the Gameplay menu and turn all the driving assists to 'off'. Your options should look like this:

Steering Assistance: No
Braking Assistance: No
Driving Assists Allowed: None
Anti-Lock Brakes: (Locked)
Stability Control: (Locked)
Traction Control: (Locked)
Damage: Full Damage
Mechanical Failures: Yes
Tire Wear: Real
Fuel Usage: Real
Auto Start Engine: Yes
Flags and Penalties: On

You also want to make sure that under Controls, you have Gearing set to Manual. You should also ensure prior to beginning the race that your camera view is already set to cockpit view, as changing it to cockpit view, even at the very beginning of the race will not count. It needs to be on for the entire race.

Now that you have selected the right driving aids, you will need to win an Online Public race. You can either join an existing race and handicap yourself by using more difficult settings, or you can create your own lobby which forces Manual Gears, No Driving Aids and Cockpit View so that you are racing opponents on a level playing field. Try to limit the lobby to 2 players maximum, that way you can increase your chances of winning the race.

Alternatively, you can boost this trophy using the method outlined in Pentapodia if it proves too difficult.
