How to unlock the Mailbox Full achievement in Project Cars - Definitive Guide
Credit goes to Kalkane101 for this wonderful tip:
"The 500 messages are in your inbox not the twitter-like feed thing on the side. If you have completed career and don't wish to carry on doing races to get mails from wins you can abandon season and you will return to the dashboard screen asking you to check inbox to sign new contract.
Go into inbox and you will have 1-2 new emails. wait for save icon to appear in right corner and exit out of career. Go back in and new email has appeared, enter inbox, exit, repeat. Just make sure you wait for save icon to disappear so each email is counted. Boring, but a lot quicker than doing races."
Again, all credit goes to Kalkane101 for this solution. I had gone through 550 races and nothing until I followed his solution and popped the achievement after going in and out of the inbox 5 times (Yes I was that close to popping it anyways)

Got a +1 from me. Tukraze, who has the solution above you, unlocked the achievement after you, posted the solution after you, and posts the exact same thing you did yet he got upvotes and you got downvotes. Don't get it but this solution worked for me.

I just did the same, before even seeing this comment.
16 Seasons in, and I’m starting to worry that I will be doing this stupid achievement using this solution.

This is a rough guess as I can't find anything that is 100% on how to get this.
I have done 450ish races in Career Mode which after each race (Contract Race) you will get 1-3 Messages from fans saying "blah blah blah @WMD_DriftinDropBear (or what ever you picked) I was in Season 16 when this achievement popped.
Make sure to scroll the fan chat each time just so it picks up each message.
I hope this works for everyone if not just comment.

I agree with Keyb0ardasaurus's comment, the achievement description is indeed incorrect. This achievement popped for me after I finished a qualifying session and came in 2nd place. I wasn't even on the Career dashboard at this time as I was involved in a race weekend. I don't see how the "fan chat" feed has any bearing on unlocking this achievement.
It appears the 500 fan messages are based on the e-mails one receives in the inbox notifications menu from my perspective. I have played every race weekend with qualifying/race sessions generating 1-3 inbox messages per weekend. I have not skipped a single race weekend (did the 24 hr Le Mans event 3 times now, crazy right ??) and just finishing up my 4th Season. I do like Kalkane's solution if you're in a hurry to unlock the achievement, makes sense.

In this solution i try my best to explain how to get this achievement on the normal way.
I got the achievement in Season 19 and i did only a few of the side events every year. What counts are the messages from your team, the Twitter-like feed doesn't matter.
And now: How to get the 500 messages without wasting time.
You will need around 18~20 seasons to get all the career achievements (historic goals etc.). For some, this will be enough, but for others it wont be. I would suggest you do a few side events every season to get some more races. Also, winning accolades will mostly unlock new events (with new races).
Doing some side events will give you the 500 messages sooner or later, but to save time, here is a trick I figured out:
After every Qualifiying, back out to the career hub (or the calendar). Don't start the race from the Qualifiying! In the career hub, check your messages, you should now have a message from your team about your qualifiying performance. After you have read the message go to the race. After the race you should have a message from your team about your race performance. You now have 2 messages. Going to the race immediately after qualifiying will give you only 1 message about your race, not about the qualifiying.
NOTE: UnfurledEmu75 pointed out that you dont have to reed the messages (immediately).
So, always go back to the career hub after each:
Qualifiying,
Race (also go back out after Race 1 if the event has two Races)
You leave the qualifiying or race 1 after it ended by "Quit" > "Save results"
You will only get a message from your team in 9 out of 10 cases, so dont be surprised if you dont get a message.
I hope the guide is helpfull. English isn't my mother tongue, so maybe there are some language mistakes.

I don't think you need to back out, you get all the messages regardless. What you have to do is do the qualifying, if you skip it you won't get a qualifying message.

I got messages when I skipped qualifying. The team basically assume you do rubbish and finish last!

Best to save this for last to reduce grind time. The 500 messages are in your inbox not the twitter-like feed thing on the side. The game sometimes crashes when doing this, so I advice to make a backup of the game save. ( Like, in USB or online storage )

This achievement is one of the longest in the career. The Twitter feed does not count, only messages within your email inbox. The achievement description is also misleading as messages from team mates also count towards the 500. This will unlock during your 12/13th season if you are checking your inbox after every race.
On the right of your Career Dashboard is a "FanChat" section where generic comments are made about your race performance, as well as your standing within the championship. You will typically receive between 2–4 comments per race or qualifying session so this will take a significant amount of races to achieve 500. Unfortunately there is no way to check how many total messages you have received, as the older messages eventually disappear to make space for the newer ones. For reference, this trophy unlocked for me during my 13th Season.
