How to unlock the My Little Friend achievement in Project Cars - Definitive Guide
Fairly straight forward. Start a solo session on Road America using a Formula A car.
Make sure you're not starting in pole, somewhere near the back is better as there are more opportunities to overtake.
Then at the start wait till you get in a position to overtake and the hold to deploy KERS the achievement will unlock as you go by.

This achievement never popped in Formula A for me

This is weird. I had to MAP the KERS button to B and then the achievement popped.

Very easier and faster way to do this achievement !
Start a solo week end session :
Race : Take Road America ( but if you use another it's good ... )
Car : Take a formula A
Configuration :
Laps : 1
IA : 2
Type IA : Same you
Start position on line : Last position
No test and qualification, directly starting the race.
When the race start and you have passed the race line, deploy the Kers ( Press B ) to Double the competitor in front of you before the first bend, i do it at my first test and achievement pop after 2 minutes !
Good luck

You need to add that people need to configure the controls, as KERS is per default not mapped on a button on the controller. So you need to go to the options menu and choose a button for the KERS.

Load up a quick race on Road America, 1 lap, full grid of opponents and Formula A cars. Ensure KERS is mapped to your controller. Once the race begins, get into a position to overtake many cars and just mash whichever button is mapped as KERS and this should unlock.
The Formula A cars feature a KERS system that can be activated by holding the button, which will give your car a speed boost. At the beginning of a race you can use KERS to overtake some opponents off the start which will unlock this trophy.
