How to unlock the Big Spender achievement in Project Spark - Definitive Guide
Edit (5th October 2015): following Title Update 16, the original method of unlocking this achievement became invalid, and an alternate method was introduced.
NEW METHOD (after 5th October 2015)
In order to complete 30 challenges with Haakon, it will be easiest to complete all 9 of the one-time challenges, and for the remaining 21 challenges complete a mixture of the daily challenges and the level Haakon up challenges.
To view the available challenges for any champion:
1. Press the button when in a menu. If you are in a game (Crossroads, an episodic adventure, or user generated content), press the button and then press the button.
2. Select "Challenges"
3. Scroll along the "timed" tab OR the "goals" tab to find the challenges for the Haakon champion. There will be a single daily challenge in the timed tab, 9 one-time challenges in the goals tab, and 19 "level Haakon up" challenges (note: you only see one of these at a time) in the goals tab.
To complete the challenge:
Most are obtainable in a game of Crossroads. If you are struggling, search the user generated worlds with the search string "challenge", and you should be presented with a list of worlds with a continuous stream of 1 strength enemies designed for easy challenge completion.
If you don't know how to complete the challenge, check out this thread on the official Project Spark forums. (NOTE: it may not be 100% accurate any more, but it should give you a general idea of what to do.)
If you still can't work out what to do, try each ability the champion has, and check your percentage progress by viewing your challenges (see above) after each attempt.
If you still can't work out what to do, give up and try again tomorrow with a different challenge.
Note: this method is retroactive. If you had completed 30 Haakon challenges before the title update, this achievement will (or should...) unlock when you start the game for the first time after the patch.
ORIGINAL METHOD (no longer valid, but left here for posterity)
To earn this achievement, you must purchase/unlock 30 items from the in-game marketplace with credits earned in-game.
The cheapest items are priced at 500, 750, 1000 or 3000 credits each. Some are available to purchase/unlock immediately. Others require that you level up to level 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. before you can purchase/unlock them.
edit (December 5th 2014): Following a change of policy by Team Dakota, the level locks on these items have been removed, and they are now all available to purchase no matter what level you are.
You will need to reach level 15 before there are enough items to purchase/unlock. Once you have, there should be at least:
4 items at 500 credits each
11 items at 750 credits each
12 items at 1000 credits each
6 items at 3000 credits each
Purchasing/Unlocking the 30 lowest cost items will cost 31,250 credits in total. This can be earned in approximately one month through daily challenges.
To earn credits:
Click on the button and select "Challenges" to see what you need to do.
To purchase/unlock items:
From the main menu, click on Marketplace. Then click on the credit filter (looks like a silver coin) near the top left. This will filter all items you can purchase/unlock with credits, from lowest to highest cost. Then select an item you want to purchase/unlock and click on the "unlock now" button. Now repeat this process another 29 times for the achievement!

Should be noted that purchasing items with credits that can also be purchased with gold does not count towards the achievement. I have purchased the following items with credits:
Nomadic Warrior
Champion: Avalon the Druid
Champion Haakon the Knight
Treasure Pile
Desert Dunes
Although that should add up to 5 items and 16-17%, it only registered the Gold Pile so I only have 1 item and 3% progress. I purchased Nomadic Warrior, Haakon and Avalon with credits during my free premium and Desert Dunes and Gold Pile without premium, so this is not a factor. If the cost is shown in Credits OR Gold, the item does not count. If it is shown in Credits ONLY, it will count.

Thanks for confirming that Fizzle before I go spending my credits. Takes so long to acquire credits that I don't want to be wasting them.

October update:
First off im sorry for those of you who attempted to go for any of the achievements that have been basically destroyed and made too easy for everyone to obtain. Blood sweat and tears for some people trying to get these achievements.
The new achievements are Retroactive so you will unlock them if you have already completed the... new... achievement requirements.
For this one its basically an easier version of this achievement:
You get 20 for leveling Haakon, I would recommending logging in daily and doing his very easy daily challenges which will count for this achievement.
