How to unlock the A Little Help From My Friend achievement in Project Spark - Definitive Guide

Easy solo method to get this is to start each each section with 2 players and at the first opportunity let the second character die and then right before finishing the section press cn_A to join back in with the second controller and finish the section.

NOTE: DO NOT PRESS cn_A TO JOIN WHILE A CINEMATIC IS PLAYING, THIS GAME IS VERY GLITCHY AND WILL PROBABLY SCREW YOU OVER LIKE IT DID TO ME.

I just used this strategy myself and can confirm it works.
I will note below where to rejoin on each level for anyone that might need it.

1-1
Jump the first islands and then let the first void goblin kill player 2.
Continue with your main character until you are fighting the waves of goblins and join in after the bell tower is destroyed, finish off the remaining goblins and that is 1-1 done.

1-2
Make you way to the observatory with both players this is where player 2 will die.
Play through the rest of the level until you kill 2 berserker golbins AFTER you ride to the top of the observatory, join in here, kill 3rd wave and finish the level.

1-3
You can let player die right at the beginning of this level.
Rejoin after you kill the chieftain but BEFORE you pick up the runestone.

1-4
Again player 2 can die right at the beginning of this level.
Rejoin during the fight with the "Final Spawner" and finish him off

1-5
There is a group of enemies right near where you start to kill your idle player.
Rejoin after killing both Chieftains before picking up the runestone.
As soon as you pick up the runestone the achievement should pop.

Hope this helps anyone having trouble with glitches/bugs screwing them over.
If you down vote please let me know why so i can try make this solution more accommodating.

I've arrived late to the party, so just to be clear: this achievement is local only, right? Is there a way for two online friends to play coop and unlock this achievement? I think i've seen a game session for this one, that's why i ask. Thank you.

A quick question can I play 1-1 to 1-3 then quit the game and start later for this co-op achievement? Thanks

Local co-op works for this. When choosing your champion, turn on a second controller and hit A to join, and choose a second champion. You will need another person actually playing. You must run through all chapters together, and it will pop after the last one. Chapters do not need to be completed in order.

In co-op, you can also complete the Coup d'état (Karlsnor kills a chieftain), Unstoppable (run Void Storm without dying), and Four of a Kind (all four champions complete without dying) achievements. You only get credit for the character played by the main controller, but it makes runs much easier and faster.

I wonder if choice of Champions matters. To those who recently succeeded, which Champions did you use? (I think I used Avalon and Haakon, but it was so long ago that it is probably irrelevant.)

I just did this yesterday and one character died during 3-2. It said push A to choose a new character but I didn't until the end of the level. This made it easier because I was using one controller at that point. I was too afraid of it not popping to continue that behavior the rest of the way, but it is a thought to try it that way.

Also, on the anti-spark part, my second character would warp to the top with the first character when I left it by the "building bubbles". Not sure if that was an update or a glitch. Made that part easier.

Just did this solo with Avalon and Haakon. Had the controllers laid out in front of me and I just kept the characters on screen oriented the same way so I didn't get confused. (Had to do something similar when playing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons ) Made running through most of the areas much faster than switching controllers every few feet. Spamming Y with Haakon attacks in every direction and spamming Y with Avalon keeps her fully healed the entire time. I didn't die at all, but both champions were around level 15 so your mileage may vary.

I just ran the whole thing with two players. No achievement, and the achievement shows no progress at all? Any hints as to what is going wrong for me?

There is supposed to be an update this Tuesday that will include some achievement fixes. No mention if this is one of the achievements though. Cross your fingers.

To me, it seems more like an in-game engine issue. In my experience, the camera wigs out, and gets stuck somewhere, thus, I'm forced to quit to the main menu, or the dashboard. I have a real love/hate relationship with this game, its quirky, and there's nothing else like it. But it never works properly, and with each new Title Update, they fix 2 things, but 3 break in the process.

I was having same problem on level 1.3 where you have the choice of three caves and on the left hand side cave when picking up the kode the game would stick door would not open and we tried several times... but having one last go i tried pushing forward pressing b and the door opened..so may be worth trying also had another glitch later in the game where an enemy would not disappear after being killed, the problem was using charged attack so using basic attack sorted it.
So we managed to complete it in co op and guess what no achievement I'm stuck at 83%.
Anyone got any advice....pleeeease

It's not fixed. In level 1.3, when you get to the top of the ramp and claim the tile, it jams.

Local only. The only online multi-player is in Create mode on Xbox One.

I've logged a support ticket regards the 1.3 glitch. still haven't heard anything - have chased the issue via Spark today - will keep people informed here if I hear anything further.

1.3 glitched for me as well(it put me under the level after trying to claim the tile on top of the ramp), but with lots of jumping around/against the floor, I was able to get back/clip into the main level. It definitely needs to be patched :\.

I managed to bypass the 1.3 glitch, which I currently had, by doing the rooms in a different order... don't know if the same will happen with everyone but worth a try?

Just got this but i had to do 1.3 about 5 times first, the only advice i can give is to do the disappearing ramp part first, the others paths can be done in any order.Main problem i had with local co-op is that you have to stay close together otherwise you might miss a jump and die.

after many failed attempts on 1.3, I used scotwolf2's suggestion above and it worked handsomely

It doesn't work for me, scotwolf2's suggestion. I was using Karlsnor (main controller) and Scarlett (2nd player). The glyph in the anti-spark room always glitches/jams and does not award me for having attaining that glyph.

read the other solution just die with 2nd controller until the boss then bring back in

The progress on this can be glitchy. Each mission (including 1-6) should give you about 16% progress. I played local co-op on 1-5, 1-6, and 1-1, and got to 50%. This morning I played 1-2, but made no progress.

I have been working both controllers, with Haakon and Avalon, spamming Y during battles. Both characters must be close together since there's no splitscreen. So you end up leap-frogging through the level. I seem to be stuck on 1-3 though, since I can't work both controllers fast enough to get up the ramp Anti-Spark keeps destroying.

Okay so I'm not the only one having an issue in 1-3, I'll try doing the rooms in a different order then. Hopefully it works or helps fix it.

I tried a different room order and got past it first time. I thought the glitch had hit me again but then the camera panned back into the room, and I could go to the lift. I went from Right to Left, instead of Left to Right, leaving the ramp room till last.
