How to unlock the TCAF Mars Medal achievement in PROJECT SYLPHEED - Definitive Guide

This is done on level 5. To get this achievement you have to obtain an S rank for the mission. Unfortunately this is virtually impossible to do on the easy difficulty. On the bright side, it's almost impossible to beat this mission on hard without getting an S rating. So do this on hard, and try and destroy as many ships as you can. When I did it, I only got 1 of the 3 subobjectives (Destroy the Hellfires), and got an S rating, so don't worry if you don't get all the subobjectives.

Do the achievements only unlock during the campaing? I did it on the mission select menu, got the S but nothing happened, does that mean i need to do a start a save file in hard and then reach level 5?

managed to get the achievement without completing any sub-objectives completed

There may be other ways to do it but I got it by clearing the mission 5 on hard.
