How to unlock the What's in the Box? achievement in Project Winter - Definitive Guide
Like the achievement states, you have to complete the traitor goal of not letting any survivors escape while not opening any traitor crates/drops. You can, however, have your teammate give you items from those sources (if they are so generous.) This is pretty difficult to do normally since you won't be able to get energy drink boosts or poison crossbows (on your own) to kill the survivors easier. So if you are trying to get it done by yourself in an actual game, here are some ways around this:
- Stick with your traitor partner and have them open all of the crates, and have them share some of the contents. These items will cost traitor credits, but if you delay the objective long enough, then you can go to the traitor drop together and get everything from that, as it is free for both traitors.
- Stick with the group so you can get credits to sabotage the objectives (usually requires 4 or 6 credits to do.)
- If you see a bunker raised up with stilts, use a traitor credit to open that bunker to get energy drinks, guns, and weapon parts to help kill survivors easier. These bunkers are some of the best in the game, so if you can open it by yourself for 1 traitor credit, it will help you gain more stats than the survivors. Though it is generally in the white wolf zone, which hit harder than the normal wolfs, so do ensure you won't get killed before reaching the stairs.
- Once first objective is completed, you can find the armory and open it with a group of survivors or with your traitor buddy and one other survivor. This will give you energy drinks, gun parts, guns, crossbows, and mines, but it is dependent on how lucky you are with the RNG of the lockers in the building. It is also a bit of a risk to allow survivors to get guns and buffs now that the recent update patched out the ability to open it solo.
- You can kill a person, take their heart, and bring them back to life at the cost of 3 animal pelts and 9 meat. This will give the traitor team 3 traitors, assuming you have either 2 other people to help open the lab or the 6 traitor credits to open the truth serum lab alone to revive them.
- If someone claims defector, you can hang out with them and see if they will give you some of the traitor chest contents. They can freely take out everything with no limitation, so if they trust you, they could even give you a poison crossbow or an energy drink.
- If you are really confident, you can start attacking with your melee weapon at the cabin before everyone heads out at the beginning of the game if they are split up enough. Alternatively, you could wait for some to leave for the objective and pick some off at or away from the cabin before first objective is finished.
- If you want to take a hands-off approach, you can make a pickaxe at the start of the game, mine rocks, and make bear traps to place them around the cabin and/or objective, and use your melee weapon on the survivors once they are caught in the bear trap. Be careful that other survivors don't see the bear traps in your hand so you don't draw suspicion.
- If the objective is a part collection objective, you can steal parts directly from the objective to delay the it from getting done and put the survivors in a more dire situation. You will have to exercise caution with this method since it can cause other players to be more vigilant and watch the objective if you steal enough times from them. For a cipher objective, you can either sabotage the cipher bunker or lie about the number it shows to delay them with less risk to yourself, but you may still draw suspicion if a group of players collected the other numbers themselves.
I ended up getting this done by telling my partner what I was doing and he gave me one of the 20% booster energy drinks to ensure we could win while looting the corpses of the people we killed.
