How to unlock the Legendary achievement in Puss In Boots - Definitive Guide
General timesaver: You can skip the 2D cartoon cut scenes by waving your right hand.
Personally, I had the most trouble with Level 5: Stagecoach Robbery. You must earn 45K. By watching RazTehWaz's PS3 video, I learned that you can earn 1000 for Perfect Leaps. I could not time these leaps. However, I found that if I started jumping up and down quickly, well before the leap, I would often get the Perfect Leap. I landed on the stagecoach with 20K, including the 10K for Perfect Time.
You should then get 8K for Perfect Rocking of the 3 pigs, plus Perfect Sneaking.
The dodging run is the hardest portion. You need to balance picking up coins with avoiding obstacles and bombs. Great Dodging will give you a 5K bonus, while Nice Dodging gives only 2.5K. Note that RazTehWaz's video gets Nice Dodging and 44.6K, so it should be possible to get to 45K with only Nice. I got Great on my successful run, but just squeaked by with 45,450.
As far as I know, there are no more points to be earned after the dodging run. If you don't reach 45K, you can use the Kinect Pause gesture (left arm at 45 degree angle) to select Replay Level.
Now a really pain in my @ss is stage 6 - the Giant's Castle.
You MUST get perfect for a serenade. It's easy and most valuable. Sneak section is easy because freeze is always after cinematic scene
Gold medals are judged on how much money you accumulate within a level. Most of the levels are fairly straightforward and with the following tips, you should be able to easily get gold.
- When you are walking from point to point, swing your sword and break open boxes, crates, vases, etc.
- If you have Perfect stealth's, shapes, balancing, etc, it will reward you with a lot of extra coins. These will often make or break a gold medal. The balancing, as difficult as it is, doesn’t need to be completed. You can earn gold without getting a perfect in any level, however, if you completely fall, it’s a huge penalty.
- When fighting enemies, first throw them into some environment pieces and then throw them into a trap.
- One of the trickier levels to get gold on is The Giant’s Castle. Avoid the poison shooting flowers. There are also 2 nice little bonuses you can get in the level. They are chain jumping up the shoelaces. When you approach the laces, spam the button until you get to the top and you will get a x6 chain bonus good for 1,000 points. You will then get another opportunity later in the level on the other shoe that is good for 2,000 points. The final thing that will help is if you can get a perfect sneak at the very end. Unlike many of the other sneaks, you have to be a little quicker on the thumb-sticks.
There are nine total chapters to complete in story mode. You will have to achieve set amount of score on each level to earn a gold medal.
After playing for a while, I know there will be certain levels that you try over and over again, but still don't rack up enough points for gold. Well, here are a couple of things that you should keep in mind while playing.
1. During fight scenes, always defeat your enemy by kicking them into different traps. You will earn 2,500 each time. Simply defeating an enemy or knocking them into the same trap again will only net you 500 points. If you run out of traps to use, play your guitar. You will be awarded 2,500 for each perfect hit with the guitar. You can hit a maximum of 3 enemies per guitar attack. Also, try knocking enemies into barrels, crates, and treasure chests for extra gold.
2. When playing through action sequences, (ex. running scenes) make sure to always use your sword and swipe anything in your way. There are barrels, vases, and crates that carry gold in them.
3. During balance, sneak, and pose sequences, try your best to achieve a perfect score. Only earning "great" or "nice" the whole time won't cut it when going for gold. Trust me, it will make all the difference. Certain running scenes will involve jumping and you will earn an extra 1000 for executing a perfect leap. This goes for chain jumping as well. (Must be 5 or more consecutive jumps.) Here's the break down of all the possible scores.
* Nice: 250 points
* Great: 500 points
* Perfect: 1,000 points
