How to unlock the Legendary achievement in Puss In Boots - Definitive Guide

Wozamil's PS3 guide gives good tips for levels with bandit fighting. There are also specific tips given for Level 6: The Castle.

General timesaver: You can skip the 2D cartoon cut scenes by waving your right hand.

Personally, I had the most trouble with Level 5: Stagecoach Robbery. You must earn 45K. By watching RazTehWaz's PS3 video, I learned that you can earn 1000 for Perfect Leaps. I could not time these leaps. However, I found that if I started jumping up and down quickly, well before the leap, I would often get the Perfect Leap. I landed on the stagecoach with 20K, including the 10K for Perfect Time.

You should then get 8K for Perfect Rocking of the 3 pigs, plus Perfect Sneaking.

The dodging run is the hardest portion. You need to balance picking up coins with avoiding obstacles and bombs. Great Dodging will give you a 5K bonus, while Nice Dodging gives only 2.5K. Note that RazTehWaz's video gets Nice Dodging and 44.6K, so it should be possible to get to 45K with only Nice. I got Great on my successful run, but just squeaked by with 45,450.

As far as I know, there are no more points to be earned after the dodging run. If you don't reach 45K, you can use the Kinect Pause gesture (left arm at 45 degree angle) to select Replay Level.

AMAZING. I got 45,000 EXACTLY. Very very lucky. I had 45,250 after getting a nice on the dodge, and then got hit by a bomb, losing 250. Thanks a lot for the guide. Helped immensely.

If you have them it would be most helpful and I will be more than apologetic. It's just this is TA. 95% of gamers when they see 'Earn Gold' achievements which require a certain score to acquire and then they see I guide. They would expect to see some numbers required to obtain that achievement. Especially when this game doesn't tell you how many points you need.

The giants castle point for gold is 15.000 as I got just past 15.000 and had something about 14.XXX before that run and got silver with that.

The beanstalk level 7: Should be 75.000 for gold as I had 71.XXX and got silver and next time I finished the level I got almost exactly 75.100 or so and got gold.

Level 8 the mine: 82.XXX on first attempt and it gave me gold so not sure what the limit might be but 80.000 will get it at least.

Last level 9: 46.XXX unlocked it for me but 42.XXX didn't. So 45.000 is the minimum to unlock gold medal on the last level.

+1 from me! Stagecoach Robbery and the Beanstalk levels were the only ones I had to replay. Only reason for the latter was because I didn't realize I wasn't going my top speed by leaning forward enough, haha.

Anyway, I appreciate the tips regarding Stagecoach Robbery. To be fair, it was the only level I was looking for as the others aren't really needed in my opinion.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. If there are any point requirements you think should be added, I'm happy to put them in.

Though as I recall, most Golds were fairly easy to obtain, so knowing the necessary values would not have made a difference for me. I shared what I had learned about my own difficulties, in the hope of helping others. I'm sorry that I did not help you. Good luck with your achievements.

I found a method for perfect leaps - just make a half squat before jump. With this you can make a 23-25K before Dodging. My personal best is 49.100 with only nice dodging.

Now a really pain in my @ss is stage 6 - the Giant's Castle.

Is there a method for the shoelace jump on kinect? Or do you just have to do big exaggerated jumps over and over again and hope for the best?

jump jump jump jump jump. Try to be perfect at least at 1-2 balance section, and dont catch any flowerpuffs.
You MUST get perfect for a serenade. It's easy and most valuable. Sneak section is easy because freeze is always after cinematic scene

Just done the Giant's castle first try. Best method - in chronological order - first shoelace 6x jump, bit in the middle where you jump off a leaf onto the wall, i believe after the golden goose moves again (can't describe it any better) 5x jump, second shoelace 7x jump. 5x gives you 500, 6x gives 1000, 7x gives 2000. Try to get perfect jumps although I got none. Do NOT get hit whatsoever. RUN with knees up and arms moving (the kinect run, which I'm sure you're familiar with, especially if played kinect sports) for the sneak bit at the end to get there faster - make sure you freeze when told - this will get you perfect sneak. Collect almost all coins - I left 1 gold and 1 silver behind on the wall climb at the start. I ended up with 17,500. Oh, and perfect serenade, (easy. I've never got anything other) which gives you 5000 also. Done. Not as bad as it seems :)

I got dead on 45,000 for the stagecoach robbery as well with a nice dodge. Very lucky. Perfect leaps are invaluable. I got 3 in total.

Gold medals are judged on how much money you accumulate within a level. Most of the levels are fairly straightforward and with the following tips, you should be able to easily get gold.

  • When you are walking from point to point, swing your sword and break open boxes, crates, vases, etc.
  • If you have Perfect stealth's, shapes, balancing, etc, it will reward you with a lot of extra coins. These will often make or break a gold medal. The balancing, as difficult as it is, doesn’t need to be completed. You can earn gold without getting a perfect in any level, however, if you completely fall, it’s a huge penalty.
  • When fighting enemies, first throw them into some environment pieces and then throw them into a trap.
  • One of the trickier levels to get gold on is The Giant’s Castle. Avoid the poison shooting flowers. There are also 2 nice little bonuses you can get in the level. They are chain jumping up the shoelaces. When you approach the laces, spam the button until you get to the top and you will get a x6 chain bonus good for 1,000 points. You will then get another opportunity later in the level on the other shoe that is good for 2,000 points. The final thing that will help is if you can get a perfect sneak at the very end. Unlike many of the other sneaks, you have to be a little quicker on the thumb-sticks.

There are nine total chapters to complete in story mode. You will have to achieve set amount of score on each level to earn a gold medal.

After playing for a while, I know there will be certain levels that you try over and over again, but still don't rack up enough points for gold. Well, here are a couple of things that you should keep in mind while playing.

1. During fight scenes, always defeat your enemy by kicking them into different traps. You will earn 2,500 each time. Simply defeating an enemy or knocking them into the same trap again will only net you 500 points. If you run out of traps to use, play your guitar. You will be awarded 2,500 for each perfect hit with the guitar. You can hit a maximum of 3 enemies per guitar attack. Also, try knocking enemies into barrels, crates, and treasure chests for extra gold.

2. When playing through action sequences, (ex. running scenes) make sure to always use your sword and swipe anything in your way. There are barrels, vases, and crates that carry gold in them.

3. During balance, sneak, and pose sequences, try your best to achieve a perfect score. Only earning "great" or "nice" the whole time won't cut it when going for gold. Trust me, it will make all the difference. Certain running scenes will involve jumping and you will earn an extra 1000 for executing a perfect leap. This goes for chain jumping as well. (Must be 5 or more consecutive jumps.) Here's the break down of all the possible scores.

* Nice: 250 points
* Great: 500 points
* Perfect: 1,000 points
