How to unlock the Puyo King (x100,000) achievement in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 - Definitive Guide
There is a way to AFK this achievement.
Go to Solo > Challenge > Tiny Puyo. Choose a character. Under “Game Settings” set the Time Count to “None”. Then under “Handicap” change the difficulty to Sweet (this causes only three colors of puyos to appear).
Once the game starts, find a way to have the right and down buttons held down on the D-pad (I used some coins and a rubber band to do this), and let it go. I also recommend having the controller plugged into your console in order to prevent the controller from dying.
Once that is all setup, you can just let the game run while you do something else. Due to the larger board and fewer colors of puyo, it should be fairly difficult for the game to top out. Once the game reaches level 99, puyos should start popping pretty quickly.
The Popped counter maxes out at 9,999, but it should still track past 9,999 puyos in one play. I was able to get the achievement progress to go from 21% to 35% in one session.
Once you wish to stop, simply end the game by topping out. The achievement progress should update after the game ends.

I personally found mapping the down and right d pads to X and Y because it was easier to rubber band. Also the character you use is very important to this working. I was using Arle and I would top out before the 40 minute mark. Using a character such as Sonic makes it work surprisingly.

Great one, ProphetOfTruth4! Worked wonderfully by remapping down and right to LB and RB as suggested by WonderCrayon163. Thanks to both of you.

The quickest way to do this is definitely the game mode found here:
Solo -> Big Bang -> Endurance, and selecting Puyos to play. Make sure you select puyos for your opponents, also.
Please note that selecting Tetris does NOT count for the 100,000 tetris minos achievement. I've checked. This method DOES count puyos though.
Side note, Solo -> Challenge -> Endless Fever does count, but the Endurance mode above seems to give more puyo because of the longer games, and less restarts.

This will be the biggest grind to get the platinum. I took advice from some of the other solutions and it is working very well.
I went to the PlayStation console settings, accessibility and the controller to remap the down and left D-pad buttons to L2 and R2. I then went into the game and chose tiny puyo in the challenge tab and make sure the difficulty is set to “sweet”.
I used a couple hair ties and coins to make sure the ties stayed in place holding down the buttons. It starts out fairly slow, but once you get to level 99 that’s when the pace picks up. I popped 10K puyos in roughly 40 minutes.
I only had to pop 80K once everything else was done. So doing this method will take you roughly 5-6 hours give or take.
Happy hunting!
