And it takes FOREVER. Confusingly, the "number of puzzles left" number usually drops by a few points each time you complete a sub-puzzle.

I'll see if I can check later tonight and figure this out.

I thought that it had something to do with the bonus multiplier that you got on each puzzle, but this theory was disproved when I got a x8 and it only dropped by 1 puzzle...whereas I got a x2 and it dropped it by 5. >_<

And as an update for any curious about the length of time, I just finished this one in just under 3 1/2 hours with a couple bathroom breaks and occasionally losing focus while chitchatting.

Yeah not sure what it counts as the pieces go down but I'm about an hour in and I have 250 of 407 left

One thing that should be noted. You can choose to "save and quit" at any time and then load up "saved games" later.

So what I wonder is when is it done! is it after I do all the 16 pieces. The level 3 thing confuse me like do I have to beat it 3 times. I guess not. I just don't get it.

xbox 360 site explained this in a way that I understood it.

Basicly if anyone else wonder the game will count down amount of puzzles from 400 to zero. But the weird thing is that it will skip a lot of them and how many it skips after each puzzle is random. Or so it looks like. Maybe it skips only when you choose beginner skill level. I dunno but it does.

When you reached zero from the 400 the game will say congrats and you reach level 2 of the fractual puzzle. This has 16 puzzles but now it wont skip any. So after doing those 16 you reach the last level.

last level only has 1 puzzle and then after that you are done.

So it is the first "400" that takes time.

I find the Puzzle 'Playground' by to be much easier to get the achievement. Of course, you should do it with these settings:
-Big
-Beginner
-Turbo.
Things you should note when doing this achievement, IT WILL TAKE AGES! I worked on this quite fast, and it took over 4 hours... And you can't save. Unlike with the 1000 piece puzzle, if you go to quit, it will lose all progress, so you have to do this in one sitting. (According to the comments, you CAN save this... I'm still not sure how, but if you can, then this shouldn't be such a boring affair XD
One thing to remember is that as soon as you get to the second level (should say about 20 Puzzles on the level), your in the clear, you should be done in no time.

Advice I might give to people trying this achievement:
Music: Seriously, if you listened to the soundtrack to this game for over 4 hours, you will go mental.
Help: If someone else in your household is willing to help you, get them to. Doing this whole thing solo is so boring, you might wanna take a lot of breaks, but having people to do parts of the puzzle while your not is efficient.
Food or Drink: I don't know, but you might wanna have some snacks or something... especially if you do it after the last meal of the day... Boredom=hunger.
And an early congratulations for if you manage to make it through this alive... Well Done.

Yea I saved mine.. I was worried it wouldn't save.

The trick I believe is to save while working on a part.. you must have at least two pieces together.. meaning don't try to quit inbetween fracturals.. but only after you start a part of the fractural..

Yeah I could save mine too; the one I had trouble saving was the 1000 piece one actually. I had to do that one without quitting out so I often left the Xbox on overnight while sleeping.

B8TINGU has it right, mostly. I was able to save with only one piece on the play surface and resume from the "Saved Puzzles" without issue. I'm still in the process of getting the puzzle finished so I don't know if it affects the achievement.

For the people suffering from the glitch.

I did regenerating puzzle on turbo, and when I got to the final 16 pieces it wouldn't let me place them. There was no ghost image, no image of the overall picture no nothing. I figured it was all done for.

But, if you take one of the corner pieces, get it the right way up (start a new puzzle to look at the picture if you're not sure) and just keep moving it around the board, it WILL place when you find the right spot.

If you move slowly, you can see the piece moving slightly as it sits in slots. just keep moving it til you find the right one. Once one piece is in the rest is easy. Thank God!

Fractal puzzles are located in Single Player from the Main Menu. Select the Regenerating puzzle and set the following:

Construction Mode - Turbo
Experience Level - Beginner
Preset - Big (16 pieces)

A 3-Level fractal puzzle is very similar to a 2-Level except you start out with a much higher puzzle count. You start out on the third level with 400 puzzles (technically you should have to complete 400 puzzles to move on to the next level, but I only completed 10 puzzles and the puzzle count was down to 365 already). Each puzzle has 25 pieces, and every 25 puzzles makes up a bigger puzzle piece (16 in all), for when you're on the second level. After those 400 puzzles are completed, you will move on to the second level. This level is made up of all the puzzles within the puzzles, and only has 16 puzzles total. Once those 16 are completed you will be on the final level, a puzzle with 16 pieces. All 3 levels add up to 417 puzzles and should take about 3 hours of total gameplay.
