How to unlock the Assassinate the Makron achievement in Quake II - Definitive Guide

You can skip straight to the final level in Quake II to unlock this achievement.

Single Player > Level Select
Episode - Quake II
Map - Unit 10: Boss
Difficulty - Easy

Beat the boss and find an escape pod to unlock the achievement.

Don't forget to use your most powerful weapons against the boss.

What about other Quake 2 Achievements? Do you have to get them via playthrough?

You may as well just play Quake II base game normally all the way through since there is a story achievement for every level. The expansion levels can be skipped straight to the last level from what it seems like

For haxx0rz playing this on PC:
1. Open the console (~) and enter map boss2
2. Take either left or right corridor to a room with the escape pods (doesn't matter which one).
3. Open console and enter noclip
4. Fly into the middle escape pod, disable noclip and activate the terminal inside to finish the level and grab your cheevo.

Note: You can either continue your game from the previous Unit or choose Single Player > Level Select > Quake II and select ‘Unit 10’ (not Unit 9).

This is story related and cannot be missed and can be done on any difficulty. To unlock this, complete Unit 9: ‘City’ and Unit 10: ‘Boss’, which consists of the following levels:

Unit 9: ‘City’
 
  • Outer Courts
  • Lower Palace
  • Upper Palace
Unit 10: ‘Boss’
 
  • Inner Chamber
  • Final Showdown
