I created a position player with max stats for hitting and added him to my team the Yankees. That unlocks a separate achievement for creating a player and putting them on the roster. For this achievement I started a franchise mode and made sure to put that player in the starting lineup. I did a 52 game season and simmed until the postseason. More than likely your going to unlock that this way. I did it on my first try. If you want to be safe, sim until a few days left in the season and check the league leaders, then you can play a few games and make sure your the leader but you shouldn’t have to do that. I unlocked the achievement real easy by simming, just make sure your player is in the starting lineup.
Make sure to sim all the way to the end of the playoffs for it to pop.

Isn't working for me either. When is it supposed to pop? When the season is done simming? Or when advancing to the playoffs? Either way it isn't popping for me doing either of those. I've done 5 seasons ranging from 52 to 162 games and my created player has at times led in hits, doubles, homers, RBI, AVG, and OPS and no pop.
Edit - never mind. You have to sim the playoffs too to get it to pop.
