Max out your created players stats, once this is done, add them to a team. Play an exhibition game and hope you get a hold of one, took me a few tries.

I hit a homer with my created guy, and it didn't pop.
Couple of innings later I hit one as Pete Alonso and it popped.
Not really sure what to think of this, but it seems bugged for sure.
