The description is slightly misleading as it doesn’t actually count home runs from any mode. Home Run Derby does not count. Inside the park home runs do not count either. They must be home runs that leave the park and trigger the Home Run animation sequence. Adjust the difficulty/sliders to make them easier to hit if you wish. You can also try to hit a fly ball by holding down on the left stick when you swing.

Two controllers in exhibition mode does work but keep an eye on the tracker as I noticed times when it just stopped counting. I was able to restart the counting by playing vs AI but it might have been enough just to quit to dashboard and restart the game.
Cincinnati is a good stadium to choose (short fences on both sides ).
