First of all don't cut off track or time stop be recorded. Drive your first lap very slow so that you can drive faster in the second lap and beat your own ghost car.

Select Time Attack from the Main Menu, choose any car and track you would like and finish a lap thus setting a ghost time of yourself, now beat that ghost car on the second lap or however many laps it takes you. It’s very simple, you can just drive dead slow the first lap and finish up quick the second.
