This is a grind, that's for sure.
Set up a career Novice, and turn on all the aids to the max. Then just play through the career. It's a lot of races, ranging from 3 to 7 laps as you work up through the 'leagues' A-H.
Full points means finishing first in EVERY race, including the Stand Ins. If for some strange reason you don't, or you get disqualified for cutting a few too many corners, exit to dash and just do it again.
You unlock higher leagues through your credits 'in the bank' so always do the try-outs to get the contract for much less, usually about a third or half price, thus boosting the amount of credits in winning (profit) you'll get.
I can't help you make this any easy, it's a terrible grindfest with no reward but the promise of 50G at the end. Hellish, but my word, sooooooooo satisfying hearing that pop at the end :) Good luck.

I first played this game years ago, and i have no idea if i came first in every race that i have done so far, which is quite alot. But i do have Gold trophies for each event completed so far, so is that good enough? Or am i going to have to restart all my contracts just to make sure i come first.

I have literally no idea. As you can see from my date of this solution, I that this years ago too. Although I do need to boost the MP stuff, so maybe I'll get it again :)
I'd say do the races you don't have a Gold Trophy on (and keep a note for those you already do) that way if it pops, you've saved wasted replaying and if it doesn't you'll know which ones to replay. Not very helpful I know :/
