How to unlock the Bringin' Home the Bacon achievement in RAGE - Definitive Guide

OK I was having trouble with this until I looked up a special solution.
1. Go through all the rooms and do your best, but don't sweat it too much
2. Don't leave the last room. Look at the fake ship floating in some fake waves.
3. There should be 3 track lights on the ship, equip shotgun and shoot them from right to left.
4. Immediately look down a bit and see a fake green fish jumping over the fake waves- shoot it!
5. You have 2 more chances to shoot it as it jumps the waves from left to right.

If you get the fish it is a $200 bonus! It is easy to get $550 during the show, so only 1 hit on the fish is really necessary.
Easy!
*Edit* for those of you doing the 1st run through, this is actually in room 4, not the last room with the final mutant.

Sweet!
The one downside is you get so much money out of mutant bash that you don't need cash- it takes away any feeling of being rewarded for most quests.

This is great!! Even more money every time, I finished all 4 round with $856 so it came out to $1456 for me. That's almost twice as much as needed!!! And I thought Mutant Bash TV was easy money before I saw this!!!!

The lights look the same as the other lights in the room. But the ones on the ship are the only ones you need to shoot

Came out with around 1200 after everything was all said and done. It didn't pop for me but was unlocked in the achievements screen after checking, just a heads up if it doesn't pop for anyone else.

2/14/12 - Hit the three lights and fish only popped once: still got achievement and appreciate the guide, just a heads up that they may have changed it with an update.

Just got it yesterday. Fished popped up 2 times for me. The initial shots on the lights didn't produce anything. I think the detection on them might be just a hair off. Great solution, saved me tons of time, thanks!

Where can I find this TV show? I did this once on the campaign with a waypoint on, but now I can't find it anymore.

OK remember the highway that leads to the 'North Watch Tower'? It's below that highway, go along the frontage road that runs under the tower and you should see a building nestled between the mountains, that will be the Mutant Bash TV show

Shoot them exactly as I wrote in the solution, from right to left. Then look at the fake waves. The fish should be jumping over them

Big thumbs up from me worked like a charm. I might add that instead of shotty to shoot the lights I used the pistol w/ monocle. Was easier to aim. Shot 'em right to left, then quickly switched to my shotty. He jumped three times just like you said, only could get him once though.

For people trying thing, if you hit him (as far as I could see) there is no prompt or anything. No sound or jingle to let you know, just go finish the round and your prize should be higher if you hit him.

Receiving this achievement is very easy and without fish from the fourth arena. He simply put the turrets in the corners, and they just filled accuracy. He killed the rest with a shotgun.

I notice some people saying the fish only popped once I thought this was the caee the first two times I did it because I only looked directly below the last two lights. But the third time I saw that the fish moves from left to right so the second and third spots are the second set of waves on the waves to the right. I think this is the only part that isn't 100% clear. Otherwise thumbs up on a damn good guide.

Didn't register my shotgun bullet when I hit the fish. I just used Wingsticks and Pop Rocks for the shotgun and got $899 on Nightmare mode wish the fish would have died would of had more oh well. Wingsticks and Pop rocks work perfect on Nightmare mode.

Did it without having to shoot the fish as well. Each round I’d deploy either two Advanced Sentry Bots, two Advanced Sentry Turrets, or a combination of both. Also made sure to get at least one kill to net me the 100% accuracy bonus. Really simple achievement in the end.

Author's Note: This is my first guide; please keep that in mind.

This achievement was moderately tricky to obtain in Nightmare difficulty, so I thought I would share some tips. There is a minor spoiler at the end of the solution regarding when you may play the Bash TV side-mission.

If you did not obtain the necessary $750 on your first attempt, you may replay the Bash TV side-mission again (in fact, this "re-run" is another mission in and of itself).

This solution will assume you are playing the Re-run of Bash TV.

You total take is calculated by your total amount of kills, accuracy each round, and how well you compare to the par time of each round. Furthermore, Round 3 is a jackpot round, allowing the player to obtain extra earnings by successfully scoring points.

General Strategy

- Use Wingsticks. They are fast, cheap, and they have slight homing on targets once thrown. If you have the correct armor, crafted Wingstick do even more damage than purchased ones.

- 100% Accuracy across all four rounds will give you $400, well over half of your required take. Again, Wingsticks make it difficult to have an accuracy of less than 90%, assuming the player is familiar with using them. It is generally best to line up your throws after sidestepping a mutant’s attack; they will be unable to dodge and you will have a difficult time missing.

- Beating par time is important; the lower your time under par, the more money you are awarded. However, I have not discerned a formula relating the amount of time under par to the payout. When I first unlocked the achievement, I was averaging about 0:10 – 0:15 seconds under par each round. As long as your accuracy is near-immaculate, shoot for at least 0:10 under each time (which is easily manageable with Wingsticks).

- The jackpot wheel has enormous potential. Each wheel is the same; there are three mutant icons (if you land on these, the “bonus” is over) and in between these there are two “$$$” symbols. Shoot the target under the spinning wheels to stop it at the “$$$” while it is easy to do so. The wheel will spin faster with each successive spin, assuming you do not hit a mutant icon. After the third spin, unless you are confident in your quick reflexes, time your shots to hit the target after the three mutant logos have passed. You will hit a “$” or “$$” each time if you are quick. The jackpot seems to go on indefinitely, spinning faster and faster each new spin until you inevitably land on a mutant icon. My best earning from the jackpot was $122, though when I first unlocked the achievement I had a mere $55.

- Be sure to pick up the caches of bandages and ammo after the first and third rounds. Even if you don’t use any of it while getting the achievement, it will definitely come in handy later.

The rounds are as follows:

ROUND 1
Par time: 1:40
Kills: 20

Note: The fire-throwing mutants on the raised platforms can sometime be difficult to hit with a Wingstick due to the bars on the side. If you are having difficulty, use your shotgun on them to preserve your accuracy rating.

ROUND 2
Par time: 1:00
Kills: 14

Note: The spinning, bladed gorilla has a tendency to steal your kills by mulching the attacking mutants. The loss of money is trivial compared to your time and accuracy, so do not be discouraged or distracted if you miss more than a few potential kills.

ROUND 3
*Jackpot Minigame*
Kills: 6
Par time: 1:00

Note: You will earn an obscene amount of cash from this round due to the jackpot game (see above note). Focus on accuracy, as one miss will severely damage your rating (there are only two waves of three mutants).

ROUND 4
Kills: 11
Par time: 1:30

Note: After playing through three times, I continually arrive at 11 kills. It is possible that the floor spikes kill one of the mutants (11 is an odd number), but I cannot observe this. The spikes are easy to avoid, simply move around during the battle and, again, focus on speed and accuracy.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

*SPOILER*

You may play the Bash TV mission after reaching Wellspring and returning to Dan with supplies. The Sheriff sends you on a mission to obtain the Cuprino, during which you must participate in Bash TV.

The shotgun is also really good for increasing your accuracy, should you run out of wingsticks.

I can confirm that the spikes during round 4 do kill some of the mutants like the spinning gorilla does in round 2, like you say 11 is an odd number and i have ranged from 11-13 kills.

As is posted in the Achievement Guide on x360a, therefore they get the credit, use the Dopefish method. It gave me an easy $400 therefore I got the achievement in the re-run otherwise it is nearly impossible to get in the re-run.

i did it before the point of no return on disc 2,1st room i set up 2 advanced sentry turretts in the doorways before stepping in the middle, then got 1 shot with my shotgun and let the turrets do the rest, round over in 45 seconds,2nd round 1 single turret at the exit and again 1 shot with shotgun foe 100%,3rd after jackpot wheel used an advanced sentry bot and again 1 hit for me with shotgun, last round take the sentry bot with me and set up another, again 1 shot with shotgun and leave the rest for sentry bot,got £849 dollars as the you get the kills the turretts and bots make, you just need to make 1/1 shots hit for the 100%

Once you get the advanced wingsticks, obtain 40 or so and just use those accuracy will be near 100%, easy to obtain 750 even on nightmare

I suggest getting this on your first visit to Mutant Bash TV, because there are 5 rounds instead of 4 on your first visit. I also suggest saving your game before you go in and change the difficulty to easy, you get the same amount of money no matter the difficulty. All I did was use a sentry bot and sentry turret at the beginning of every round, all I had to do was make one shot to give me 100% accuracy and have the sentries kill the rest . At the end of the 5 rounds I had $892, the hardest part is making sure you make your one shot for the round.

For me, when the Kraken came out the sentry bot was attacking it in the cutscene and the door closed with the Kraken still standing in it killing the Kraken.

I found this a breeze once I'd aquired the Advanced Sentry Turret. Buy all the items to create 8 Turrets. Enter 'Mutant Bash TV' and start the first round (on easy).

Use your Shotgun and kill/hit 1 mutant with one shot. Then plant 2 Advanced Sentry Turrets (maximum at one time) and let them do the rest of the work. Then just find a spot either behind them or out of the way. (Try not to get hit by the Mutants as I'm not sure if this causes a $ decrease at the end of the stage)

The Turrets will just massacre all the mutants so don't shoot (just incase you miss). Once the round is over, knock the 2 turrets down and you will regain some of the items, plus you'll finish the round with 100% accuracy. This is what gives you lots of money.

In the next stage, rinse and repeat. Shoot 1 mutant and then drop a couple of Advanced Sentry Turrets and let them do the work. Just make sure your one shot in each stage hits a mutant. It doesn't even have to kill it, it just has to hit it.

I ended Mutant Bash TV with over $800. Easy!

You have to leave the last stage before the achievement pops.

Note: Not sure how well the normal Sentry Turrets will work as I didn't try it with these. But they may work. If not, wait until you get the Schematics for the Advanced Sentry Turrets.

Hope anybody that tries this finds it as easy as I did.

I did this on Nightmare during the Re-Run. All you need is about 80 Pop Rocks for your shotgun, and maybe a few wingsticks for good measure. Let them get close enough that you won't miss with the pop rock, and also for a chance that they will group up. On the first round when the mutants are throwing molotov cocktails from the towers, aim the grenade at the ceiling over their head, so you don't accidentally shoot through their tower.

You can off them pretty fast and accurately this way, and get $750+ easily. To be doubly sure, get as much as you can in the bonus round.

25 Oct 2011 07:05

During the "Mutant Bash TV" mission, earn 750 dollars or more to unlock this achievement. To maximize the cash payout, finish off the mutants as quickly as possible with optimal accuracy. If you don't get it the first time, try again. You can play "Mutant Bash TV" as many times as you like, making this a relatively easy achievement to get.

Pro Tip: Shoot the three lights on the wall in Shipwreck Cove (in sequence from right to left) to activate the Dopefish mini-game. Shoot the Dopefish every time he appears for 200 dollars each time. That brings you to a toal of 600 dollars fast!

0
0

Some find this hard but there is a way to get $600 easily, in the last room there is a boat with tentacles wrapped around it with 3 lights on it, shoot the lights from right to left, a green fish type thing will appear in the bottom left, shoot it for $200. You can repeat this 3 times. When you a fighting in the arena use Wingsticks and the Combat  Shotgun (or Double Barrel), these are one hit kill on the mutants so it keeps your accuracy high. Accuracy counts towards your final score so try not to miss anything. Also, try to complete it under par time. The first time you play this there are 5 rounds and whenever you play it again, there are only 4. I recommend saving before you go into the arena for the first time and if you don't get $750, then reload your save. Credit to JayLJohnston for the video:
