How to unlock the Deliverance achievement in RAGE - Definitive Guide

You will find this mini game once you make it to Subway Town at the start of Disc 2. Once you speak with Redstone and are free to wander around town, look on the upper floor by the back staircase. There you will find a man playing a banjo.

The mini game is essentially a version of Simon Says. You will listen to the man play some notes (using the A, B, X and Y buttons of your controller) and you must repeat his pattern.

Make it past 5 rounds and the achievement is yours. If you're not good with these types of memory games, you'll have enough time to quickly write down the pattern on a pad before playing it yourself. Plus the pattern continually builds on itself in later rounds so you can simply add on to what you already knew from before. If you mess up or restart, you are greeted with a completely new pattern.

You only need to write down the LAST THREE notes the guy plays each round. That way, during the final faster rounds, you can really just concentrate on what he plays at the end of each.

If you have a video camera you can also record the notes so if you forget you can play them back

perfect solution. i didnt have a note pad around or on my computer so i just wrote down my entire solution on facebook and did it from there. it is much easier to get the entire solution and just look at that instead of the controller

Not only is it just that you have time to write it down, you can just pause after he's done playing. Also, I noticed that the final round he only plays 2 new notes instead of 3, threw me off when I was just writing down the last 3 he hit.

Funny, but true story: I was using notepad with caplocks on to copy the "notes", I redid the whole thing like 6 or 8 times!! I was getting so pissed because I noticed that it went back to the $5 bet.......well anyway, I was like screw this!! I went and clicked my "home button" to see what achievements I was still missing and work on those instead, come to find out, I popped this damn cheevo a half hour ago!!! So just a heads up, this achievement may not pop on your screen when you unlock it, lol!!!

As Slider257 said, the mini game is in Subway Town. You'll find a man with a guitar sitting at the top of one of the staircases, and when you look at him a dice icon will appear.

The game is entirely random, and based on memory. It will show a board with the four buttons A, X, B, and Y. He will play notes and those buttons will flash. All you have to do is play the same buttons as him past 5 rounds and you get the achievement.

Now, I don't have a very good memory. I failed it on round 3 consecutively. The good news is the patterns continue from the last round. Slider257 suggested writing down the patterns, but later in the rounds they get faster and faster. When I played it, I just recorded the patterns with my iPod and played them back to write them down. While recording, I managed to get the achievement first try. Good luck!

I found that just typing the letters in notepad was a lot easier than recording it with any video device.

Really? Once it got faster, typing and watching the screen seemed more difficult for me.

Thanks for the guide. For the final round of strum, I actually had recorded the 5th round - thinking it was the 4th - then decided against re-watching it reasoning I would record the "next round." Got the achievement 1st try haha.

I recorded it on my phone and watched it back, got it first try. Seemed the most logical way to do it after the nightmare I had with finger filet!! Was hoping to post my solution on here but was beaten to it! Well done.

The way I got this achievement was to video record the sequence, review my recording and transcribe the button presses on a piece of paper. Then just follow along with what you wrote down. Rinse and repeat for each round.

The good news is that since each round is derivative of the first, you just have to add the next three button presses to what you already wrote down.

I used Microsoft Word, you could also hand-write, but simply write down the sequence of buttons, and pay attention to the last part, which will be new as each round progresses. Rounds 2-4 add 3 new buttons, while round 5 adds 2.

******SPOILER******(kinda)

The dude playing the banjo DISAPPEARS!! After the mission where you plant the explosives on Authority Bridge, this guy is GONE. Bw sure to keep an early SubwayTown saved game or get this one done early. I missed it. Oh well, I don't have the patience to play this game again.

This is the way i did it.

I picked up my phone and every round i recorded it so i could look back at what the guy played. You need to sit closer to the tv with most phones to get a clear image.

Now comes the fun stuff. I will try to write this down as simple as possible. Every round will give you a few more notes on top of the ones you played the round before that.

REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN KEEP PRESSING PAUZE AND PLAY ON YOUR PHONE REAL QUICK TO FREEZE THE IMAGE SO YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK AT IT NOTE FOR NOTE(OR BUTTON FOR BUTTON...WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT HEHE).

For example :
(these are btw not the buttons to push, you will most likely have another pattern):

-Round 1:
xxy xxy
This round is split up into two smaller rounds. The first one will give you 3 buttons and the second one will give you 3 more.

-Round 2:
xxy xxy bba
Notice that in this round there will be 3 more buttons to push. So if you recorded it write down the last 3 to what you already had written down.

-Round 3:
xxy xxy bba axx
Notice that in this round there will be 3 more buttons to push. So if you recorded it write down the last 3 to what you already had written down.

-Round 4:
xxy xxy bba axx bby
Notice that in this round there will be 3 more buttons to push. So if you recorded it write down the last 3 to what you already had written down.

-Round 5:
xxy xxy bba axx bby ay
Notice that in this round there will be 2 more buttons to push. So if you recorded it write down the last 2 to what you already had written down.

Take make a quick summary:
Round 1: xxy xxy (2 smaller rounds to write down)
Round 2: xxy xxy bba (3 more buttons)
Round 3: xxy xxy bba axx (3 more buttons)
Round 4: xxy xxy bba axx bby (3 more buttons)
Round 5: xxy xxy bba axx bby ay (2 more buttons)

I hope this will help people that are having problems getting this achievement.

Just do what I did, I video recorded it with my cell phone, played it back and then wrote down the pattern that I saw. Then tapped in the button sequence. That's all you need to do.

This achievement can be obtained when you reach 'Subway Town' which is the second large settlement you reach at approximately the mid point of the game.

The achievement is for completing all rounds of the mini game 'Strum'. This is found if you head directly from the garage in subway town and up to the furthest steps to the second floor. At the top of the steps you will find a topless gentleman sitting on some crates with a banjo. He will play a combination of four notes to you which you must remember and play back to him.

The best way I have found to do this (as there is no time limit) is to get your mobile phone ready and simply hit record and video him playing the notes. Then you can simply play back the video on your phone and play the notes replicating what you see on screen!

Only the first round, which is simple, has two sections to it. So he will play notes, then when you replicate he will immediately play the next set of notes without a pause. Don't worry as you move to the next round there is a pause between each section allowing you to get your chosen recording device ready!

Obtaining this trophy legit is quite difficult as it escalates to 10 or maybe more notes by the final round. There is a very easy way to get it on first try in less than 5 minutes. Simply take out your cell phone zoom in on the 4 buttons and after the first round or two when it starts to get hard, record a video of each round really quickly. Simply replay the video on your phone and hit the corresponding buttons right as you watch them light up and BAM it's yours.

Do you know how to do "Through Fire and Flames" on Expert Difficulty in Guitar Hero 3? Then this will be a piece of cake for you. For the rest of us, it might take a couple of tries to unlock this. In Strum you play a banjo, and to advance you have to repeat the notes the banjo plays. There are four strings on the instrument, where each string represents one of the four main Xbox 360 buttons.

Pro tip: Each button represent a unique tone, so if you manage to put a tone to each button, you will have a much easier task at hands.

Strum is a mini-game which is found on the top floor of subway town, strum is a minigame where you play a banjo and repeat the A.I's played notes. The computer will play notes, then you must play the notes back using , , and . If you do this by memory it is hard to remember all notes in the last round, thankfully you can write down the notes on paper as there is no time limit! Use this method if you don't want to waste time on this mini-game. At the end of each note that appears, pause the game and then write the note down on a piece of paper. Rinse and repeat until you've completed all the rounds.
