Kill an Authority Enforcer during Jetpack descent

How to unlock the Jetpacker achievement in RAGE - Definitive Guide

The first opportunity to get this achievement is during the quest, "Liberate Captain Marshall." You will be sent to the Authority Prison. As you are making your way through the prison near the start of the mission, you should be able to hear some of the Enforcers hovering with their jet-packs in the next room. This is the first time you will run into them.

Before entering the room, save your game. Then switch to your Crossbow and use the Electrified Bolts. As you enter the room a jet-pack Enforcer will descend and hover for a split second. Fire the Electrified Bolt into him and watch him fly around. Shortly after the achievement will pop.

If you miss, just reload your save and keep at it until you hit him.

EDIT: Thanks to Hirsute Dave who mentioned that tossing an EMP grenade underneath the jet-pack Enforcers will also take them out.

A plain old Authority MG or Assault Rifle will do the job too. You just need to spray bullets at them in that short period while they're hovering.

After lots of "successful" kills before landing, I'm quite sure this achievement is bugged on Ultra Nightmare. I left a save at Authority Prison and after getting the Night Terrors achievement went back, switched the difficulty to Easy, and got it on my first shot.

I was looking on here to find out why the hell this never worked and I can confirm on ultra nightmare difficulty it is definitely bugged.

Definitely doesn't work on Ultra Nightmare difficulty. Neither does the turret section later in the level.

I confirmed the ultra nightmare difficult does not pop this cheevo. I save, change the difficult to normal, get the cheevo in the first attempt, load my ultra nightmare save game and that is it. Still won the Ultra nightmare cheevo after beat the final mission.

To add to the other solutions, during the "Liberate Captain Marshall" mission you go into the Authority Prison. A little into the mission you come into a room where you hear jets above a whole in the ceiling. There will be air swirling just above the ground. Make sure you have pop rocket rounds loaded in your shotgun as these kill the jet packers in one shot (on normal difficulty). As they descend the jet packers pause for a second while their jet packs detach this is when to shoot. On pop rocket shot and the Achievement is yours.

You will be sent to the Authority Prison to complete the job "Liberate Captain Marshall." It is a main story line mission so you will be sent there after your discovery of "Mind Control Darts." From time to time Authority Enforcers will descend to the ground by jet packs. Pay close attention because they only descend from time to time and they only fall for 3-5 seconds. I, personally, completed this using the Assault rifle and did it on Nightmare difficulty but would be much easier to obtain on a lesser difficulty. SAVE YOUR GAME often that way if you miss an easy opportunity you can reload and be ready the next time.

To add to the other solutions, during the "Liberate Captain Marshall" mission you go into the Authority Prison.

After freeing Marshall you have to then fight your way out of the prison. Along the way you will come to a courtyard with a manned turret. After clearing all Authority members from the courtyard and disabling 2 laser fences, one to the right by blowing up the Power Conduit with an EMP Nade and the one to the left where Marshall is waiting by using the terminal Marshall will then tell you to cover him while he blows the door for you escape. Get on the manned turret as there will be a drop ship that drops JetPacked Authority members into the courtyard that you just fought through. You can Zoom in on the Turret with LT, aim just below the belly of the drop Ship and you should be able to get this no problem as they are dropping in.

Hey, here's a visual aid for anyone who may need one, the prison mission (as stated by others) is definitely the best place to do it but, as the video shows, its real easy to get if you just use the turret whilst you are waiting for Captain Marshall to open the door.

Easy to unlock during the "Liberate Captain Marshall" mission. While manning the turret, try to kill one of the enforcers as he descends using his jetpacks. The easiest way to do this is to hit them in mid-air with any hitscan weapon. The enforcers hover a few meters over the ground before eventually dropping down. Take this opportunity to blow an enforcer out of the sky. If you missed it in "Liberate Captain Marshall", you can try again during the "Assault the Authority Bridge" mission.

This trophy carries between playthroughs

This is very very easy and in my 2 playthroughs i'd say i did this over 30 times. There isnt many places in the game where authority enforcers are about. The best place to do this is in 'authority prison'. When you have to complete the liberate captain Marshall mission. Once Marshall has been freed from his cell you have to make your way further though the mission, eventually you will come to a huge open area with enforcer officers and a turret you can man, clear the area of enemies. Now you will want to save your game and wait for the drop ship, man the turret and then shoot the guys who drop out. Only one bullet needs to hit them. Youll know if you got the trophy as the officer will start going crazy in the air. Other locations to get this trophy:

- Authority Prison
- Return to the ark mission
- Dead City Reverse
- Assault on authority bridge
