How to unlock the Minigamer achievement in RAGE - Definitive Guide
Note - You do not need to play the full five rounds for Five Finger Fillet or Strum, just play till you win a round and back out to collect the earnings, it will count as a win. IF you continue and let it ride, it may not count and unlock this way, so be sure to exit after a won round and save.
Wingstick Mastery **
- First time arriving in the Hagar Settlement, you can find Loosom Hagar at the top of a ramp between Dan's "office" and the garage. She'll offer you a side mission in which is also a minigame associated with Wingsticks.
(**)Added this because it seems to be a minigame that counts towards minigames played. I know most people would talk to Loosum anyways being an explorer and all but I also understand that people might not check with her. If you have done everything else and it hasn't unlocked, then please try the Wingstick Mastery.
Rage Frenzy
- There is a gent inside Sally's Bar in Wellspring with a top-hat named Hendrik that offers to play this game as well as to purchase a starter deck if you haven't bought one already from the Outfitters Store. Can just play an easy game with him and hopefully you'll win. Alternatively, you can play against Teague at the Fez Bar in Subway Town. There is another chance to score another achievement if you win against her "Hard" deck. Hopefully you've been looking for cards throughout the game in order to help.
Tombstone
- Across from the job board in Wellspring is a few gentlemen playing Tombstone. It's the dice game played on the ground with holograms. Fairly simple game to play, there is also another achievement associated with this if you happen to roll four targets on the first round. Tombstone can also be located in Subway Town.
Five Finger Fillet
- Sometime during your stay in Wellspring, there will be a person named Abbott at a table playing with a knife, this will be five finger fillet. Just win a round and back out for it to count. However if you want to keep going there is also another achievement linked to this game, be sure to read the tips if you are having trouble. You can also play Five Finger Fillet in Subway Town.
Strum **
- This is the last minigame type you'll come across when you arrive in Subway Town. The guy you need is playing a banjo type of instrument sitting next to a NPC named Hope. Just repeat the notes back till it says you won the round and you are safe to back out. If you choose to keep going there is another achievement to be obtained.
(**)It has been brought to my attention that, when you go to do or complete "Assault on the Authority Bridge" the Strum fella in Subway Town is unavailable. So be sure to find them before doing anything else if you want their associated achievements.
i think maybe you DO have to win the 5th round of five finger filet, as thats the only thing i have NOT done
You need to end at least the first round as a winner and when the game gives you the opportunity to back out after that round, you just take your money and go.
I only played every minigame once and only to the end of the first round.
The Achievement popped for me right after the first round of strumming.
And after the Achievement popped, i got 1 Point credit towards the 100% completion Achievement.
**ATTENTION**
The Wingstick Minigane can only be played in the Hager Settlement,
so do not miss this before switching to the second Disc.
The games in Wellspring:
- Tombstone: A holographic game right hand off the entrance to the store "Outfitter".
- Ragefrenzy: A cardgame it can be played inside the bar with the fancy hat guy.
- 5-Finger Filet: it's not available from the point you arrive in Wellspring, the guy (Abbot) will arrive later in the story, he will be sitting at the table near the cardgame guy.
The games in Sub-Way-Town:
- Tombstone: The hologame is located in the lower floor, near the upgrade guy for the races.
- Ragefrenzy: This time a woman in the "Fez Bar", look out for the green card table.
- 5-Finger Filet: Abbot is as well in the "Fez Bar" with his beloved knife.
- Strumming: Appears only in Subway Town, the guy for this is on the upper floor, right beside the staircase.
**ATTENTION**
But be aware, that the guy for Strumming and the Tombstone guys, disappear as soon as you completed the mission to "open" the barricades on the autority Bridge.
Other details of my situation just to help people out:
- beat all 5 rounds of five finger filet, but I played it a second time and "Backed out" after round 1 because apparently this can be glitchy if you "Let it ride"
- Beat all the rounds of strum, but I played it a second time and "Backed out" after round 1 for the same reason as above
- I beat an "Easy" game of Rage Frenzy in both Wellspring and then a second time in Subway Town. I did NOT beat Teague's hardest deck.
- I won a game of Tombstone in Wellspring and then my second time I won it in Subway Town. I also kept trying until I won in the second round and then "Backed Out" to earn a profit with the x4 multiplier. I had earned the four-hits-in-round-1 achievement earlier in the game, but I do not think that is necessary.
As I said, traveling back to Haggar and doing Wingstick Mastery a SECOND time is what unlocked it. Good luck everyone!
Win the 1st round of "five finger fillet"
Win the 1st round of "Strum"
Win 1 game of Tombstone
Beat the easiest game of rage frenzy in wellspring.
Thats all i had done when i got this achievment, I did not have to play through to the last level of each one. And i did not have to beat the hard deck on rage frenzy
-Wingstick Mastery
OK this minigame is effectively part of the main quest line, you will find this in the Hagar settlement at the start of the game. Talk to Loosum Hagar and basically complete the Wingstick tutorial
-Rage Frenzy (Card game)
This game is first unlocked in the Wellspring Town Bar. Speak to Hendrik to start a game. Just try to beat his hand on easy. If you do not meet Hendrik do not fear, you can also do this when you reach 'Subway Town' by speaking to Teague.
-Tombstone
This is the illuminated board game found on the floor near the outfitters in Wellspring. All you need to do is win one game, it's pretty straight forward. If you come away with more cash than you started then you've won! It's a simple dice game.
-Five Finger Fillet
This can be played in both Wellspring and Subway Town bars by speaking to Abbott. This game involves you playing chicken with your virtual fingers and a knife! Not recommended IRL! Complete the first round and then simply take the money rather than the option 'let it ride'.
-Strum
In Subway Town, after coming out of the Garage head to the furthest staircase and head upwards. At the top of the stairs is a dude who looks like a pikey boxer with a banjo. Select him and play the most annoying game of guitar hero ever devised for one round, then back out taking the money.
This should net you the minigamer achievement, no sweat!
To earn this achievement you must play and win all the mini-games in the game. This requires you to win a game of the following:
- Tombstones
- 1 round of Five Finger Filet
- 1 round of Strum
- Rage Frenzy
Note: You also need to complete the Wingtip Mastery mission in Dan Hagar's settlement (First settlement you arrive in) to get this achievement.
To "win" all minigames you just have to complete the first round of them and then cash in, the minigames are:
- Tombstones
- 1st round of Five Finger Filet
- 1st round of Strum
- Rage Frenzy (any difficulty)
You also have to complete the minigame, "Wingstick Mastery" TWICE which can be found by talking to the girl next to the garage (Loosum Hagar). This trophy is cumulative and carryies across playthroughs.
