How to unlock the A/C you like it achievement in Railway Empire 2 - Definitive Guide

An easy but boring achievement. It will take 2-3 hours of idling to get this one.
Start a new Custom Game. Any USA map should work but I used the Great Plains map. Ensure the starting year is 1910 and continue. Your character does not matter for this. On the Feature Selection screen, ensure Electrification is enabled. On Difficulty Level, make sure to set number of competitors to zero.
In game, build a simple double track to connect the cities of North Platte, Omaha, Topeka and Wichita. Build a maintenance facility in Omaha and Topeka. Finally, set up an automatic rail line to go between the cities in both directions. You should have 8 trains when done. This is just to give us a small cash flow to keep the game going.
Now in the options menu, turn off all pop ups. Set the game to fast forward and wait. It appears that there is a degree of randomness to the tech tree as sometime there are different paths off the main branch. The locomotives that need to be researched have an electric symbol on their top right portrait. Don't look at the bottom right, that symbol has a different meaning. I had to unlock 3 engines in my game but I had to hit the end of the tech tree to do so. It took about 2500 Innovation Points. That will be about 42 in-game months.
You will have to check on the game every now and then. Blackmail and inheritance events will always pause the game no matter your settings.
