How to unlock the Networker achievement in Railway Empire 2 - Definitive Guide
This is a cumulative achievement so you can spread this out over multiple games if you would like. Note, however, that you must physically connect towns to your network while your co-op partner is actually in the game with you at the same time in order to make any progress. You cannot just invite a partner to a game with towns already connected in order to get this to count.
Progress goes up every time a new town is connected. You do not need to establish rail lines between the towns, which makes this a lot easier. Also, any player can connect a town and it will count for everyone in the game. Also, ANY game counts, so if you wanted to invite a co-op player to a campaign, scenario, or short free game, they all work.
There are two easy ways to get this depending on your preference and connection speed.
Recommended Method
Set up a custom game on a whole map (Europe or USA) and play through solo until you are about to complete your tasks. Then invite a co-op partner into your game right before you finish your last task in order to get:
After the tasks, your business should be flourishing so money shouldn't be a problem, however, feel free to issue bonds if necessary (I could issue $30m in bonds by this point). Now just start connecting as many towns as possible with a focus on flattening out the lines to decrease costs, going around mountains, or simply avoiding hard to reach places. Note that both USA and Europe whole map games have about 120 towns, so don't worry if you skip some.
Feel free to add the achievement to your favorites to track this. The game is a bit slow to update the progress bar so it might take 10 seconds or so before you see the bar move up one.
After the 50 towns you will be around 70 or so, so you're in a good position to mop up one of the following achievements:
Note: if you don't want to do the above, or already have the above achievements, just load any game save you already have with lots of money available, and plenty of towns left to connect, invite a co-op partner, and play from that point. If you run out of money, reload your save and reinvite your partner and keep going. It really doesn't actually take that long. I think it was about 20-30 minutes for me using my dummy account (dummy on xbox and me on laptop).
Alternative
If you have a slow connection, especially if you are doing this with a dummy, and your game freezes up a lot, or you're running out of money easily, you can actually start a game, invite a second player, connect two easy towns, then delete the tracks and reconnect them.
Make sure you save the game before spending any money, and issue any bonds you can. Then just revert the save and reconnect the towns. The problem with this method is that you have to reinvite your co-op partner each time you revert to your save, so it's not an ideal method. Helpful if you only have a few towns left though.
