I'm pretty sure if your controller is plugged in it won't shut off.
At most the screen will dim through inactivity so unless you have your console set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity (settings>general>Power mode & startup) You should be fine not doing anything.

few notes:
I don't think this level is available until New Game+

The level is next to the Archeological Dig level near the top of the map.

The achievement pops as you reach 3600, not when you complete the level, so don't start moving till it pops :P

Chimpopolis is right. I have to work and a family - this kind of achievent sucks. But i think i will watch a movie on TV while the time is ticking for the achievement . The Rest seems pretty easy and game is a lot of fun (ans for free via Game Pass)

If your xbox controller happens to turn off while doing this, just reconnect your controller and press RB instead of A. This won't reset your score.

I got this playing on my PC, literally don't have to touch the controller at all and doesn't go to sleep!

My 2 cents...it's ONE HOUR. This isn't a "seriously" achv or a leaderboard achv, nor is it some RNG madness. I have a lot of commitments as well...and can easily let my Xbox (or PC) run for an hour while I'm sleeping or out running errands. Get some perspective people...most of you didn't BUY the game, and are using GamePass, and if a completion of a sub 10 hour game is hindered because one is to idle for an hour, maybe achvs aren't for you.

Also, much like the POWGI games, this one recognizes a wired controller, so I played using my wireless pad, signed in as me, launched the level, and turned my wireless controller off via guide. Wired stayed on (not signed in as any profile) and sitting on my shelf...changed input, watched some TV and did some work outside, came back and achv had popped.

I feel compelled to point out that this achievement is explicitly only for those of use with *ahem* time to spare

Can confirm you can get this during your first playthrough!

Can also confirm having a job and kids does not void this achievement Pets I don't know....

For as funny as this achievement is, the auto pausing on controller idling power off is beyond annoying lmao. Saint's Row 4 Fourth and Forty level annoying

I came back to check progress on this and watched in horror as the console powered down at 3500 I didn't think of the of the power save idle shut down.

I never thought I'd say this given the issues I've had with it but thank fuck for quick resume on Series X. Powered back up and the game picked up where it left off at 3500 and pop

If you have slight drift issues with your controller like me, i can confirm you can just hit the guide button as soon at the level starts and the counter still goes. Still have your controller plugged in.

I got this achievement without new game plus.

Also one thing to note if you play this on PC it won't idle.

This is extremely easy on PC with mouse and Keyboard since your controller will not go idle. I just loaded the level on PC and went and was playing something else I Xbox when the achievement popped.

Easiest thing was to tape the RT button down and watch some TV for an hour. Lol

Tip: you can use Microsoft Edge on your Xbox while the game runs in the background. Using Youtube and other apps seems to close the game.

Love this achievement. Got some stuff done to the truck while I waited.

Was strange for me. I did a lot of stressing so there was points where I left and took a breather… not realising I must have left this level on … and well yeah you get the rest! Got my 1,000g out of 1,000g :) thanks

I wonder if you leave the controller plugged in on PC if it goes to sleep. I've never had reason to test before this achievement... I'll come back with the results.

Well, I guess I'll never be able to get this one since my controller has drift.

Also using the quick resume feature on the X/S keeps the counter going in the background. Just started the level and then switched over and watched a show for an hour.

Are there many other games with achievements like this? I'd be very interested in sitting idle for hours on end 😁

@I Like Drinkin - There's actually a pretty difficult achievement in the original Dead Rising that basically includes idling your controller for like, 7 hours while making sure your guy restores his health periodically. Its normally the last one you need for that game to get 1000G as well.

I tried the quick resume trick, but unfortunately that only netted me about ten minutes, not sure where I went wrong there. All the same, it's still tacking up so even if I only get 10 minutes at a time I'll be content.

turbo controller hitting RB ftw

The level is found at the north of the map, in the sand where there are 2 levels. In case no one can find it
