How to unlock the TAI-KOU-BOU achievement in Rapala for Kinect - Definitive Guide

I just wanted to start off by saying that I really enjoyed this game at first and thought it was surprisingly fun. Then I started working on the 1000 fish achievement.
What a grind!!! The method I am using is to repeatedly abuse the fish of 10 Mile Gorge in Arcade mode. In a full play through of the tournament, I am averaging between 25-30 fish. The fish on 10 Mile Gorge are the easiest to catch and most time efficient. Hope this helps anyone that decides to 1K this game.

Ugh, yes definitely a grind, so glad I'm done with this one and can finally send it back to Gamefly. To make it even worse I couldn't find a way to get stats on how many fish you've caught so you are completely in the dark until it pops. For the last several days everytime I caught a fish I was praying that it would be lucky 1000. I didn't keep track of the hours it took but as a rough estimate I figured about 50fish/hour which equals at least 20 hours for this one. But I couldn't take much more than an hour of this game in a single session so that's a lot of sessions over a bunch of days.

A couple of tips, first practice on making perfect casts as that takes less time to hook a fish. Second, if you attract the boss fish, try to not hook it as I found you could usually catch 2 small fish in the time it takes you too land it. Third on the boat race stage always go for the strong hook if you see it as that greatly reduces the time it takes to land the fish. The sonar can also be useful as it increases the perfect casts. The other items aren't of any use for this achievement.

I did my grinding on the 10 Mile Gorge map too, not sure if it's any better than the others but it's the first one in the list and easiest to pick. Without even trying to catch the target fish and get a high score I actually scored over 3,400,000 points one round and made it in the top 10 on the online leaderboards for that map. Go figure.

Ouch. 20 hours - thought about starting this soon, but I think I'll focus on other games first. When I have more time, I'll go back to this one!

Using the tips above I tend to catch 7-9 fish per round, which is somewhat luck based depending upon how many "C" fish I catch. On the fourth round with the lure upgrade I have caught as many as 11 fish.
