How to unlock the Ahead in the Poles achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

You are rewarded one point per second you have left on the clock when you finish a level.

If you want you could always grind out the qualifying run on Snowy Hill to gain around 25 per run.

Remember to use the rewind feature by holding cn_LT.

EDIT: "Also make a save before you cross the line and reload" (Thanks to a44Special).

if you are going for completing all the courses anyways, Mt. Nasty 6 you can end up with around 60 per run then save/load for quick achievement

Making a save and reloading is definitely the way to go! I finished Mt. Nasty course 6 with 1:05 left on the clock, but only received 5 fast travel points for doing so. Maybe it only counts seconds, so finishing with 59 will award 59 points (the game assumes no one will finish with over a minute?).

I stuck with Snowy Hill for this one. Thanks.

Just as a tip, if you want to speed this up even more, save in the last beat before it goes from the gameplay screen to the screen where it awards your points. You can load, and as soon as the points start counting, reload, and basically pull this off very quickly.

In reference to Darkened Night's comment, it is only the seconds. I finished Paradise with 1:06:00 and got 6 points. The next time I did I made sure I passed the line at 0:59 and received 59 points. A couple of reloads later and the achievement popped!

Reloading is money for this achievement. Thanks for the tip!

Using the save and load method on the Paradise course (6th one in the Mt. Nasty area), you can get everything from 60-100 points depending on how you handle the obstacles. the time to beat is a little over 2 minutes i think.

i personally didn't really try that much to finish the course with a good time left and ended up getting 57 points.

There is one on Mt nasty that I got 70 points on which I believe is the same one. The time required is 3 minutes but it is very easy, especially with the rewind feature. Save just before crossing the finish line and reload as required! Good solution.

yeah you probably only have to load it 5-7 times, which takes you about 10 seconds.

Just a heads up I had 60 seconds on the clock and got no bonuses for this level... don't know if i'm just an idiot or not and somehow messed it up but just thought i'd let people know in case i'm not the only one :) Great guide though :)

Fast travel points are awarded at the end of the race. To earn fast travel point, you'll need to be fast. Every race has a time to beat, and you are awarded points based on this. If you finish a race with 12 secondss left, you'll get 12 fast travel points. This is a cumulative score, so in all your races, you'll need to be 500 seconds faster than the time to beat. My average times at the end of the races vary from four seconds to 15 seconds, but I had a race and got 55 seconds left.

This achievement took me 1 + 2/3rds playthroughs of the three mountains. The first playthrough I was still learning so it was much worse. You can alternatively find a race you're good at and keep replaying it instead of playing through all the races on each mountain a second time.

Using the D-pad helped me, Avoid objects such as skiers, trees, snow piles, snowmen, ect. if you hit something. Go for the gates/flags, you'll lose speed if you miss them. Also avoid losing speed while riding the walls.
