How to unlock the Believe a Boat Can Fly achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

Beat the game (last boss is a big shark). You will get a congrats screen and at this point save the game. You will get a small score boost (~2% of total) when the congrats screen ends and the credits start, but then you will get another big score boost (up to 28% or more of total) when the credits end. Simply reload the save until the achievement pops.

I was getting 24% boost to the achievement at the end of the credits, not 12%. Don't mean to say you were wrong but I was getting way more than 12%. Thanks for the method! It made this go so much faster!

Thanks for the update! I'll update the original to show "up to". Not sure what the variable is here but in any case it's a much larger boost than any other point in the game.

I got 28% as I went from 56% to 84%. I'm pretty sure it all depends on how fast you beat the boss. I beat him with about a minute left on the timer.

If I had to guess, it appears to give you a bonus at the enter initials screen. Its not the total of your full points you got for that game but its still a good chunk. Either way good way to boost this achievement.

Great solution! Just so you know, it applies the points when you hit the 'Enter Initials' screen after the credits. So you can make a save at the very end of the credits where it says 'Thanks for playing. The End' and then reload that without having to watch the credits over and over (although they are very short!)

Great solution, and great tip BlackBrian. Got the achievement in three reloads.

The above solution is faster, but if you missed saving at the end and don't want to play thru the whole game again, save before one of the bonus "shoot the target" levels. You rack up points pretty quickly on those.

This worked great, but I would suggest trying to get the spread shot at a minimum, if not the missiles as well, just to give a better chance of getting better streaks. I played through to the second target shooting level to make sure I had the weapon I'd need for it. Also, don't forget to get both the spin and time bonuses at the end of the level before reloading, as you can usually get another 5 or 6 thousand points that way.

The achievement description is pretty much self-explanatory, but note that as is generally the case with the achievements in Rare Replay that call for a cumulative total, this can be done across multiple playthroughs and between reloads. However, you cannot use the rewind function for this.

Points are scored in a variety of ways, depending on the type of stage that you're playing. At the end of a standard playthrough, you'll probably be somewhere around half to two-thirds of the way toward the 1,500,000 points that this achievement requires. Completing the other achievements will help further towards this, but you'll still be short by quite a way. Simply playing the game as normal may be the most enjoyable way to make up the balance of the required points, but if you're just looking for speed then I'd suggest continuing with the method described above, under "Serpentine!", for grinding out spins - this should get you a few thousand points each time, within a few seconds.
