How to unlock the Breaking a Few Eggs achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

here's an alternative solution to using a map. i've taken the (very well written and explained) instructions from the walkthru here, and turned them into NSEW directions. this will take you through every necessary screen in the game to get all 4 Amulets, find the 5 Jungle Huts, and take you to the exit, earning this and two other achievements. sometimes there are two exits on the left or right side of the screen. these are distinguished with NW/SW or NE/SE. if it just says W or E and there are two exits on the same side, that is because they both lead to the same place. when you see something like 4N, that means go North 4 times. by the time you reach the Last Clearing you should have found all 4 Amulet pieces. they are very easy to notice as you walk around. they are like big squarish things that flash different colors.

From Start, N, 2W, 2S, NE, N, S, W, SE, S, E, N, E, N, S, W, S, SW, 2S, N, SW, N, SW, W, S, E, S, E, S, 2W, N, S, W, 2N, Hut #1.

S, 3N, 2E, 2N, SE, 2S, 2N, W, NE, N, S, W, SW, S, N, E, 2N, S, NW, W, SW, S, Hut #3.

N, NW, 4N, E, N, S, W, 2S, SE, S, E, N, E, S, 2N, 2E, 2N, 2S, 2W, N, S, 2E, SW, W, S, NW, N, Hut #4.

2N, E, NW, 2N, E, N, 3W, NE, 3E, S, E, SW, 2S, Hut #5.

S, 3N, E, NW, N, 3E, S, W, SE, 2S, E, 2N, SE, S, E, N, E, 2S, NW, N, W, S, N, E, S, E, NE, E, N, 2S, N, W, N, 3S, 2N, SW, 2S, W, SE, 2S, E, N, 2E, S, W, SE, S, 2W, N, W, 2S, E, SW, S, W, 2N, S, NW, 3W, 2N, SE, S, 2N, E, NW, W, N, E, NW, 3N, 3S, E, SW, S, 2E, N, 2S, SE, S, 2N, E, NW, N, Last Clearing.

I tried twice now and I'm pretty sure your directions are messed up

From Start, N, 2W, 2S, NE, N, S, W, SE, S, E, SW, 2S, N, SW, N, SW, W, S, E, S, E, S, 2W, N, S, W, 2N, Hut #1.

Starting there, those directions don't match up to the game

Start, N, 2W, 2S, NE, N, (Dead end), S, W, SE, S, E, (i forgot to go north here to another dead end, should be N, E, N, S, W, S, i will fix that), SW, 2S, (Dead end), N, (now you are at a 6 way intersection), SW, N, SW, W, (the section you highlighted looked fine to me upon replaying it), S, E, S, E, S, (you should be at the bottom of the map with mountains below you), 2W, N, (dead end), S, W, 2N (Hut).

maybe double check that with the milestones i added in. i'd like to be sure whether it's right or not.

Manned up and followed the map from where I was so I'm good now. I think the above might need revising though. +1

the last part: (N, 3S, 2N, SW, 2S, W, SE, 2S,etc) should be N to a lake, apparently the amulet can spawn there. 3S to the other lake, 2N back to the intersection, SW to another intersection, 2S past a lake, W, SE, 2S to go around a little u-turn path. it looks good to me just from the map. i'd need to load up the game again to be sure, but i've already gone through step by step 3 times.

Ah ok fair enough I can see the point on the map that you're referring to. It was probably my fault going east too many screens, also didn't realise that it could spawn on lakes, was using the clearings as my checkpoints as I went through.

you only found 1 amulet, but don't know what they look like? it's in the solution: "they are like big squarish things that flash different colors." an amulet, you know like a pendant on a chain that goes around your neck. now imagine that in pixel mode.

the amulets are random, but the directions should take you through every possible location they could appear, so you must've just passed them up. sorry.

I can't even get halfway through the first section due to having to fight enemies.
it's so hard, as there is no way to avoid them, and it's a bit difficult not to get hit while trying to kill them

Not sure how everybody else is doing this... I can't seem to make it to NE on the first section because there is NE where the guide says it is, for me.

make sure when you start, you play a fresh new game and don't just continue from dying. not sure about this one, but i know some of these rare games have a set initialization layout each time.

Thank you. The guide by Elyoh is really good, but it kind of falls apart in this section. The cardinal directions really help.

Thanks for the guide, really appreciate the effort. Might be me but I appear to be stuck with your directions. Gonna be hard to explain this but hopefully this makes sense. In your penultimate paragraph (with the longest sequence) you go:

...S, E, NE, E, N
If I'm correct this takes you into the North-Eastern most clearing on the map:
http://maps.speccy.cz/maps/SabreWulf.png

From here the guide says ...2S, (to check the clearing below) N, W, (to go back to the crossroads but then this doesn't work?) N, 3S, 2N, SW, 2S, W, SE, 2S,etc

Didn't have to use bottom part of the guide. The NESW is confusing UDLR much easier you may want to add a note. If you have everything and just need to enter the underwurlde, then they can exit earlier. Either that or I screwed up the directions and got lucky.

The object of the game is to collect 4 pieces of the Amulet and enter The Underwurlde, the Amulet pieces can appear in any dead end cul-de-sac, similar to your starting position. Including the ones with a lake in, they are also random everytime you start the game.

First thing to do, is Pause and hold the Menu cn_start button, go to Options and tab to the right cn_RB, turn Infinite Lives on. Now here is a map;

The middle yellow cave area is the Underwurlde, You need to head to the bottom right and go around to the very bottom line and walk all the way left, you then need to head up to the top line and walk all the way right and make your way from there to the Underwurlde. I suggest saving this map and marking each area you check.

Good Luck, with infinite lives, this game is very easy and will take you about 1 hour to finish.

I actually found my last one on a hut screen after backtracking the entire map over again. Make sure an enemy isn't covering one and double-check even. You do not want to have to do everything over again because this map is a giant spiral that takes forever to traverse.

since FailedSeppuku's map is broken I figured I'd make one to replace it. I followed QuickMythril's instructions for this and got all of the achievements listed in his description.

If you're immediately looking at this instead of familiarizing yourself with the game first, the objective is to find all 4 amulet pieces that randomly spawn in what is called a "clearing". You will look in every possible clearing until you have all 4 then bee-line it to the center.

If you are using my map, the blue lines are new area's, and the yellow is used to mark crossings and backtracking. Just to kind of keep it clean... (it was starting to get messy at the beginning.)

The main objective of the game is to locate four pieces of an amulet, which then opens up the exit to the jungle through which you must escape. These amulet pieces appear in clearings in the jungle (or occasionally on the same screen as a jungle hut), but unfortunately there are a fairly large number of clearings and the amulet pieces' precise locations are randomly chosen from among these. The approach that you'll need to follow to locate the amulet pieces reliably is to visit all of the clearings.

SkullFire58 has kindly put together a suggested route that achieves this, in his thread originally posted here. I include below a copy of a map setting out this route, as taken from that thread. In this map, the red line indicates the main route through the jungle, with the green line representing a detour from this route to visit each clearing, which you should then retrace to return to the red path after visiting each clearing. Sabreman's starting location is marked with an "S" and the jungle exit is marked with an "F".

Here's a copy of the map:

To quickly find the 4 fragments of the amulet, look at the attached map.

We start moving along the red line -> then orange -> blue
The yellow line is needed to find four parts of the amulet, which are located randomly in any of the dead ends.
