Cover to Cover - Grabbed by the Ghoulies: Collect every Bonus Book over time
If you miss any books you can just go to chapter select to get your missing books.
To get this achievement you must obtain all 100 bonus books. Here is a written guide I am using at the moment and when i finish i will upload my video walk-through with commentary and will have it sorted by chapter.
Heres a video by TheWeoneo, but some people are having trouble following this on rare replay so ill make some videos of my own and add them as i make them

I really lucked out on this one. When I played Chapter 5, I had 2 seconds left as I entered the last room. Except it turned out it was actually the 2nd-to-last room. So when I started collecting the books, I realized that I was only going to be able to get 99/100 books, unless I started over.
I went to one of the menus, I think it was "Replay STORYBOOK", and the last one said (Bad Ending) - which I got because I didn't make it to the last room. I watched it. And then I went back to the list of Storybooks. This time, the last entry said (Good Ending). After watching it, the last area was added to the list of levels I could play. So, I was able to get the last book after all.
I don't know if this is reproducable, or if it will work if you don't make it far in Chapter 5. If somebody wants to test it, go nuts.

The final chapter 5 books are definitely missable if you don't make it through all the rooms before time runs out. I'm 3 books short with no way to replay chapter five. I tried starting from the last scene I left off in but when I finish it boots me back to replay scene menu. I even tried replaying the boss battle chapter four. This makes twenty/twenty vision also missable

Thank you! I thought I checked all the menus but forgot about Features. That's where replay storybook and replay chapter are. I started chapter 5 from replay chapter and was able to get all the books!

NegativeCreep, in the Challenges screen, press LB and it shows you the scenes where you've collected Bonus Books

I had a weird glitch where I collected all books but the achievement was locked at 99%. I found a workaround where by starting a new file and getting the first book, it updated progress and unlocked the achievement.

I further confirm what DH Nathan said.
In game my book counter was 100% but achievement showed 99%. Over a year after originally doing this just hopped on and created a new save file and got the book in the 1st room and it popped the achievement.

I have no idea what you are talking about watching the bad ending again. I watched (Chapter 5 failed) but nothing has opened up. Am I going to have to grind out going through the whole chapter again, because I really want to be done with this game. I hate timed challenges so much.
Here's the guide i used, it's a simple text guide that can be read quickly, it's gleaned from the IGN website but there site is full of adverts and can lag quite bad. It has been editted to remove any fluff too.
It's also written simpler than the RareGamer website that included too much description. However they have pictures for the harder to find ones if you're struggling and is an excellent compliment.
One note is if it says something like "to the right of the door you entered" it means, face the door and look right, not right as you enter.
Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Grand Hallway Go up the first set of steps. It's resting on the floor.
Chapter 1: Trophy Room In the doorway as you exit the room. Automatically grabbed.
Chapter 1: Billiard Room In the left corner, at the foot of the long bench.
Chapter 1: Gaming Room Sitting on the green chair near the open window.
Chapter 1: Billiard Room Resting against the side of the grandfather clock.
Chapter 1: Lower Corridors All the way at the end of the hall, on the right side of the gate.
Chapter 1: Cinema Resting on a bookshelf in the back of the room.
Chapter 1: Gaming Room Head to the back of the room and break open the playpen. The book is in the back left corner.
Chapter 1: Cellar Resting peacefully on top of a sarcophagus which you will see qite easily by just walking through the Cellar.
Chapter 1: Relic Store Face the kid trapped in the sarcophagus and head to the right to find the book on the floor.
Chapter 1: Ye Olde Archives Look to the L-Shaped bookshelf to your left. The book is next to a crate.
Chapter 1: Wine Cellar From the exit, make a 180 degree turn and head to the opposite corner, where the book lies on the floor.
Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Kitchen Located on top of the kitchen sink counter.
Chapter 2: Scullery Hidden in a boiler to the left of the entrance.
Chapter 2: Lower Corridors Look to the brick wall opposite the exit. Lift the crate to reveal the book.
Chapter 2: Embassy Ballroom On the cart near the exit.
Chapter 2: Conservatory Head forward as you enter the room. The book is behind the bench in the dark corner.
Chapter 2: Boathouse On the right-hand wall, beneath the life preserver.
Chapter 2: Lighthouse Store Conveniently located to the right of the entrance. Turn around and look back at the door and you'll see it.
Chapter 2: Lighthouse Living Quarters Resting next to the toilet.
Chapter 2: Lighthouse Lantern Room From the steps keep heading along the path until you reach a dead end, close off by chains. Smash the barrels for your reward.
Chapter 2: Lighthouse Living Quarters This one's floating in the slimy bathtub.
Chapter 2: Lighthouse Store Next to the treasure chest to the right of the door you've just come through.
Chapter 2: Boathouse Kick the giant wooden chest in the center of the room to reveal the book.
Chapter 2: Dining Room Resting in the center of the large banquet table at the back of the room.
Chapter 2: Embassy Ballroom It's sitting on the back table in the dining area.
Chapter 2: Lower Corridors Enter the brick alcove with the fragile crate. The book is hidden to the right of the archway.
Chapter 2: Scullery Sitting in the sink.
Chapter 2: Kitchen Follow the countertops till you reach a dead end area with big pots overhead. The book is on the counter.
Chapter 2: Ffffreezer It's sitting on the bookshelf in the back of the room.
Chapter 2: Garbage Yard A tough one to find. Face the exit and turn 180 degrees. Head back towards the giant window then look right to find a large grey stove. Kick it to reveal the book in the oven.
Chapter 2: Wood Shed Look for the giant table saw. Just beyond it, underneath a giant plant, is the book.
Chapter 2: Farmyard On the left as you enter, smash the wood chipper to uncover the book.
Chapter 2: Chicken Shed Look on the large stacks of hay with the chicken feed on top. There's one about two-thirds of the way to the Giant Egg, located next to some chicken pens. The book is in the corner.
Chapter 2: Farmyard As you enter, pass the well, across the yard resting against the white picket fence.
Chapter 2: Workshop Look for a giant, brass vase that can be grabbed. It's close to one of the wooden arch frames. The book is behind this. However, if you destroy the vase, you set free a Cursed Mummy.
Chapter 2: Lower Corridors Smash the vase at the end of the corridor to nab the book.
Chapter 2: Pantry Kick the barrel next to the exit for the hidden book.
Chapter 2: Kitchen The book is against the left wall, next to the door to the freezer.
Chapter 2: Grand Hallway Smash the painting on the left side of the exit to retrieve the book.
Chapter 2: Cloakroom Behind the curtains by the big chest and umbrella tin.
Chapter 2: Sitting Room Kick the grandfather clock to gin access to the book.
Chapter 2: Music Room The room has a harp, past this in the corner, break the vase for the book.
Chapter 2: Walled Garden From the entrance, head right along the wall. Go past the steps and you'll find the book in the corner.
Chapter 2: Study From the entrance, head straight. The book is resting at the bay window on the right with some other literary treasures.
Chapter 2: Music Room Dropped by the Hunchback when you defeat him.
Chapter 2: Sitting Room Go to the far corner of the couch to the right of the entrance and you'll find the book nestle underneath.
Chapter 2: Cloakroom Go to the big green box near the large windows. The book is inside it.
Chapter 2: Grand Hallway The book is sitting on the bookshelf to the left of the stairs.
Chapter 2: Kitchen Head round the room. Kick the shelf near an exit to knock the book to the floor.
Chapter 2: Wine Cellar Turn 180 and face the entrance. The book is hiding next to some boxes.
Chapter 2: Ye Olde Archives Kick the long wooden box next to the exit to reveal the book.
Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Grand Hallway Smash the vase next to the bench by the picture of the scary woman (this is near where you once had to fight the two Haunted Portraits) to gain the next book.
Chapter 3: Housekeeping Store Go towards the exit and take a left. Tuck between the box on the left and a portrait is the book. (defeat Warlock first).
Chapter 3: Crivens' Quarters The book is hidden in the nightstand next to Crivens' bed.
Chapter 3: Housekeeping Store Lying on the path to the exit. Impossible to miss.
Chapter 3: Grand Hallway Head up to the top floor and make your way to the door at the center of the balcony with the purple vines guarding it. This is the Baron's room. The book is sitting at the doorstep.
Chapter 3: Upper Corridors Kick the vase to the left of the Mummies (against the gate) to free the book.
Chapter 3: Bathroom Someone has hidden the book inside of the toilet (found behind a screen).
Chapter 3: Schoolroom Kick the cupboards near the entrance to reveal the book.
Chapter 3: Infirmary Head to the end of the Infirmary and take a right. Though this leads to a blocked door, it also leads to the book.
Chapter 3: Dunfiddlin Cottage Garden After returning the water gun, head back down the hill. Kill the Coffin Mama at the top of the hill to gain the book.
Chapter 3: Greenhouse From the entrance, take a left, then the second right, bear left towards the row of three pumpkins on the ground. In-between them is the book.
Chapter 3: Potting Room After initiating the challenge, return to where you found the first part of the recipe. The book is near the plants on the table.
Chapter 3: Greenhouse Facing the exit, make a 180 degree turn and head straight back to the rocks/potatoes? in the corner. Kick them to reveal the hidden book.
Chapter 3: Dunfiddlin Cottage Garden Head back towards the original entrance, past the cottage gate. The book is to your right, behind a giant shrub.
Chapter 3: Dunfiddlin Cottage During the second challenge, head to the fridge. A Zombie pops out, giving you access to the book.
Chapter 3: Workshop Bear right from the entrance and kick the kelm to reveal a pot. Smash the pot to get the book.
Chapter 3: Farmyard As you enter, look right and smash the millstone, 2 Worms and the book will pop out.
Chapter 3: Foundry Kick the table with the bellows (it's to the left of where you found the key) to uncover the book.
Chapter 3: Stables After breaking through the first wood gate barrier push forward against the boxes with the carpet on top. The book is wedged inside.
Chapter 3: Foundry To the left of the giant pile of coals you'll find a big barrel (also containts a Cursed Mummy).
Chapter 3: Farmyard Kill the Jessie & Clyde in the pen to earn the bonus book. (There's a 1-hit Wonder in the chipper near the exit).
Chapter 3: Woodshed Kill the final (4th) Medusa before reaching Mr. Fiddlesworth to unearth the book.
Chapter 3: Garbage Yard The book is hidden in the silver dumpster near the exit.
Chapter 3: Ffffreezer Kick the meat lockers along the far right wall. The one directly opposite the long chest at the center of the room contains a Mummy. Inside the locker rests the frigid book.
Chapter 3: Kitchen Head across the room towards the cellar (go down some steps) and find the book near the door.
Chapter 3: Laundry The book is hidden in the washing machine with the folded towels on top.
Chapter 3: Servants' Dormitory Destroy the Haunted Door at the end of the room to uncover the lost book.
Chapter 3: Servants' BathroomComplete the Challenge. When the Priest leaps out of the incinerator, the book will drop to the ground.
Chapter 3: Attic After destroying the blue chest blocking your path, turn left. The book is wedged between the support post and a bookshelf.
Chapter 3: Grand Hallway Shoot the statue to the right of the exit to earn another book.
Chapter 3: Experiments Chamber Shoot the computer after crossing the threshold into the second half of the room to reveal the book.
Chapter 3: Krockpot's Lab Look for the small freezer in one corner of this large room. The book is inside the freezer.
Chapter 3: Experiments Chamber Bash the lockers that had the Warlock in, last time you were here.
Chapter 3: Grand Hallway Facing the door you used to enter the room, head right, up the stairs. You'll see an open set of double green doors. The book is behind the door on the right.
Chapter 4
Chapter 4: The Baron's Quarters Head up into the bath area. Past the bathtub is a small wooden cabinet on the wall. The book is inside.
Chapter 5
Chapter 5: Grand Hallway Smash the vase next to the exit.
Chapter 5: Bathroom Smash the wardrobe next to the vine-covered door to earn the book.
Chapter 5: Conservatory Look for a bench with a potted plant near the entrance. Smash the pot for the book.
Chapter 5: Dunfiddlin Cottage Smash the wradrobe near the bed.
Chapter 5: Dining Room Kick the vase that sits behind the large dining table to gain the bonus book.
Chapter 5: Pantry Head left past Rib-eye, to the vine-blocked door. Look at the bookshelf to find the bonus book.
Chapter 5: Relic Store Head right until you reach the wall, then go left. Look for the sarcophagus, which holds your bonus inside.
Chapter 5: Laundry Kick the washing machine with the basket on top to uncover the book.
Chapter 5: Walled Garden Go to the far wall of the garden and shoot the large bush to reveal the book.
Chapter 5: Cinema Turn 180 from where you begin the room and shoot the vase on the table to get the book.
Chapter 5: Lower Corridors The book is hidden in the vase to the right of the exit.
Chapter 5: Grand Hallway Smash the vase underneath the painting of the mansion located to the left of the main entrance.
Chapter 5: Front Gate Head right to the doghouse. To the left of the doghouse you'll find a giant food dish.
You can check which books are missing by going to Bonus Challenges and pressing , you can replay the scene from here by pressing . You can collect the book and quit out as soon as you pick it up, no need to finish the level. .
