How to unlock the Get a Grip! achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

You will likely get this while working on the other achievements, however there is any easy 'cheat' method to do this.

Start Race 1 and just before tire (2nd item on the road that you find) pause and save the game. Now just keep loading that save and take a tire. Repeat 49 times or as required.

Using the rewind function will not work.

Using rewind worked for me.

For me, it is not counting the items towards the achievement until the race has been finished, picking it up and reloading is doing nothing.

What I did was start Race 1 and on the second lap pick up the upgrade, (save before picking it up), finish the race 5 seconds later. Load save and repeat.

Kind of a late update but for me at least on the first level the tire upgrade wouldn't register until I picked up the engine upgrade afterwards. This led me to save the game right before the engine upgrade after I had picked up the tire upgrade and load it each time to progress.

For those having issues with this achievement. I was able to getting it by loading my save every time I got the tire upgrade in the first race, as stated in the solution. Having said that. the tracker tends to take a while to update. I did not have to finish the lap/race or pick up any other upgrade.

I agree. Worked for me also with reloading :)

Here's what happened for me: I started a new game and saved, but it wouldn't count. So, I loaded up a save before the start of Race 23 and as long as I didn't hit the rewind button at all, it counted when I got the tire upgrade; then I reloaded the save and kept repeating my steps to get the counter to go up. tedious, yes, but it works.

Here, you need to collect a total of 50 vehicle upgrades across all playthroughs of the game - this refers to the turbo, engine and tyre upgrades that you'll find scattered around the tracks that you're racing on. You'll probably work a long way towards this in the course of your initial playthrough of the game's 24 tracks (if you don't, you'll have a hard time completing the later races), but to collect the remaining upgrades, make a manual save a few seconds before picking up an upgrade. Now collect the upgrade, then reload the save and repeat until you reach the required 50 upgrades.

Note that you can't use the rewind functionality to work towards the cumulative total.
