How to unlock the Inventory Management achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

this walkthrough will help you get this, and all the other milestone achievements, quickly and easily. you MUST start a New Game, from the Load Menu, or items will not be placed correctly. some tips: the knight walks thru clocks (look like coffins), wizard thru bookcases (dressers), serf thru barrels (big 1884 coins). Also mushrooms damage you. Turn on Rewind and Infinite Lives, they will help and do not affect the achievements.

Instructions: D means go Down a hole, 2E means go East twice, pick up items listed in parenthesis, use spoilers on one of your 3 playthroughs to get the achievement for having all items. you can drop most items immediately, but keep the Bottle and any Keys until specified. you don't need the Red Key to progress. (if you prefer UDLR to NSEW i have added that at the bottom.)

(Express Directions:) excludes missable items

sorry about that. i used the same solution for a few achievements. the spoilers are basically optional pasth that you only need to take if you need to get all the items. for other playthroughs you can skip those. wasn't sure if i pointed that out above, but i wrote "use spoilers on one of your 3 playthroughs to get the achievement for having all items". i'll highlight that.

Not sure how, but the keys in my game are all moved. Not giving you a -, because I'm pretty sure it's on my side of things...

It will take some getting used to, this NSWE vs UDLR. Its like using the colours GRBY instead of the letters ABXY on the controller, at least to me. Thank you for your effort though, It will still be a big help!

Great guide, really helped me blaze through this game. I have no idea why people are having a hard time with the cardinal directions. Maybe it's a USA thing? It's just like reading a map to me.

Just a tip. On your U,D,L,R portion of the guide you have some typos (E, S, N) also what is UL and 2DR?? I assume a room with more than 1 down and more than one up and UL is the Up Left-most door and the 2 DR is the Down Right-most door twice? It would help if your fixed the typos and clarified this better. Thanks.

oops, it was the way i used the replace function, assuming each letter would be followed by a comma. you are correct in your assumptions of the UL and 2DR directions. it should be fixed and clarified on the couple odd ones now.

+1 from me, but the spoiler tags threw me off a bit because I was trying to follow without clicking them, assumed they were just names of items, took a minute to realize I was lost and then open the spoilers and see they had directions also

Great guide. Picked up all items on my own and it never popped, think I rewinded after a hit and it cancelled the count of an item. Followed this the second time. Worked like a charm and saved so much time. +1.

Way overcomplicated for one achievement, I had to backtrack multiple times and the spoiler part confused me. downvoted

down is down a hole. sorry i thought it'd be easier this way. i did take that into consideration, but i finally decided on NSWE. sorry it didn't work for you. the walkthrough has UDLR directions if you want to use that. that's where i took this info from.

This is a great list. I think a guide on how to actually obtain them would be great as well.

There is a map here:

The AC/G/E keys move, but the rest should be ok.

There are a total of 18 holdable (i.e., non-food) items in the game; this achievement requires that you pick up each at least once across all of your playthroughs. If you follow my suggestion of picking up all items that you encounter during the walkthrough above, this should leave you with only five items remaining to pick up, which are the following.

  • Coin - caverns
  • Feather - ground floor
  • Money Bag - first floor
  • Skull - caverns
  • Spanner - caverns

I've noted the floor on which you can find each of these in a new game. Refer to the castle map included at the start of the roadmap to locate and then navigate your way to each of these.

In full, the 18 items are as follows:

  1. Blue key
  2. Green key
  3. Red key
  4. Yellow key
  5. AC key piee
  6. G key piece
  7. Head key piece
  8. Bottle
  9. Claw
  10. Coin
  11. Crucifix
  12. Feather
  13. Gem
  14. Money bag
  15. Skull
  16. Spanner
  17. Whip
  18. Wing

the description of the achievement is not correct, you need to pick up each type of item

Purple Ruby
Green foot (looks like a bottle)
Up right booze bottle

There is nothing particularly complicated. You can enable Cheats in the game and go through all the locations.
