How to unlock the No Pushover achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

I highly recommend completing the other achievements with enemies turned off. Turn them back on, start a new game, grab the slingshot, and head a few screens to the right until you get here:

Get right to the edge of this screen, find some way to hold down cn_B (don't read anything into this but I used the tip of a heavy, sheathed knife), then go do something else for 15-20 minutes.

Great solution; thanks. I put my other controller on top of the B button and made myself some food. Easy achievement, haha.

Great solution. Just a note though, you can do the exact same thing from the left side of the screen. Just a little note for anyone like me who has trouble not falling down several screens all the damn time. :)

You can also shoot with cn_RT, so i just put an elastic band on my controller. :) Great solution

Great guide! I recommend the right side of the screen personally. I tried the left side but kept getting knocked back by enemies and having to reset every 3 minutes

For me personally it only works for about 20 seconds before i get hit by an enemy. Never mind. I wont abuse the negative vote function unlike thousands of others on this site do, as this solution clearly works for others.

This achievement, requiring you to defeat a cumulative total of 1,000 enemies across all playthroughs of the game, is best done separately from your main playthrough, as that playthrough is made much less frustrating with the use of the 'no enemies' cheat. To unlock this achievement, first turn off this cheat, then find a screen with a large number of enemies - the screen that's at the lowest level of the Underwurlde will work fine, but plenty of other areas will also work. You'll find that the enemies will respawn continuously, which in the case of this achievement is very helpful.

Now position Sabreman at one edge of the screen and hold down the attack button (with a weapon equipped, of course) - you should find that you're able to defeat enemies fairly consistently like this until the achievement eventually unlocks. You may even be able to leave your console unattended if you have a method of keeping the button pressed, especially as enemies can't actually kill Sabreman, but keep an eye on progress in case an enemy manages to collide with Sabreman and disrupt his position.

Note that you can't use the rewind feature to work towards reaching this cumulative total.
