How to unlock the Snakes in Space achievement in Rare Replay - Definitive Guide

an easy way to get this is to just simply die and use all of your continues until you get the game over screen don't no if this will be patched out but I'm assuming so
As of 13/10/2015 this solution will only work if you do not update your game if you do you will have to reinstall the game offline do the achievement then reconnect to live

Was on the second level tonight playing this for my first time and this achievement popped for me after losing all of my lives and continues. Looks like it's happening with everyone too.

I have been loosing my mind trying to beat the very last stomping foot that just WILL NOT die no matter how many times you hit it. Decided to come here to see if anyone else was having trouble.
THANK YOU Dale Norris 25!!!! Turned off all cheats and just fell off the cliff till game over. Cheevo popped. I'm never playing this game again!

As of October 13th 2015 this solution no longer works; tried and it didn't work since last update.
Well... time to attempt to defeat the last boss.

I managed to defeat the final boss after many frustrating attempts. It is possible, just very difficult. Hang in there guys!

Thanks for this, removing the update still works.

Achievement pops shortly after reconnecting to Live after losing lives offline.

The description above (like right above) tells it all. I unistalled the game, played SRR and died, connected to Xbox live, downloaded the update, and the achievement popped. Good job

This still works as of 17/06/17. I have the disc version, uninstalled it, reinstalled offline. Loaded up SRR and died on a new game first level, came online, installed update, had to power cycle xb1 for achievement to pop though. Wait for countdown and game over screen.

I followed the guide, but the achievement did not pop after going back online and dying on the first level. I had to play again and complete level 1, then the achievement popped.

Easy solution isn't working for me. Even though I'm offline it tells me I need an update to play. I've had the game since launch so not sure how this works 🤔. Any help would be appreciated, that stupid foot boss is annoying.

Nevermind finally got the damn thing. I was a moron and was still connected to live wirelessly. Unplugged the Ethernet, didn't click "Go Offline" in the settings.

I kinda felt bad doing it this way because I really tried doing it how you were suppose to on the final boss. It just wasn't going anywhere for me.

It still works in 2020, but I wanted to add that you should either do this achievement first or last, because your save states get wiped. So do the cumulative points achievement before or after this (the easiest way to get a million is to reload a save point)

Just got this legit for the stamp, and i learned something very very interesting, DON'T BUTTON MASH!!! If you press A too fast the game won't register and it looks like you just stop licking, so pace yourself and you'll get it in no time

Bit annoying there is a glitch for this one, beating it “legit” (ie even with rewind) is an absolute nightmare. Has to be one of the worst final bosses in gaming history, and would surely have been a nice ratio without the exploit. Ah well.

I’m frustrated. I finally beat this boss and the game refuses to acknowledge that I completed all levels. Definitely feeling defeated right now 😔 Unlocked the associated milestone & stamp, but no chievo. Is there a fix other than taking on each level again? I’m stuck at 91%

Edit: phenomenal news…the achievement just had a monster delay and unlocked almost 8 hours later.

Worked wonderfully, thank you for the offline method!

Upon reconnecting to Xbox Live, the achievement didn't unlock immediately. It took 10 minutes for the achievement to appear unlocked, so don't worry if it doesn't pop.

Can confirm that if you uninstall Rare Replay (I have it on game disc) and disconnect your internet. Play the game as others have done when the game was initially released by just getting a game over whenever possible. Connect back online and achievement unlocked.

This boss is insanely easy. Especially with the rewind function, the milestone popped for me but not the achievement but it doesn’t matter I’ll just do it again as it wasn’t very challenging. All you have to do is just constantly hit him DON’T LET IT BREATHE FOR A SECOND :)

So the previous solutions work just fine, but I found this video that literally made this boss 100x easier and allowed me to beat it in one cycle. Of course, rewind makes things even easier, but if you watch where the user starts, that's the key to maintain a streak to finish the boss. Hope this helps!laugh

Following this path is by far the best way to go!!! Took me about 10 resets back to the spot and a heck of a lot of rewinding but got there

Just a quick tip for the last boss (hopping foot on the moon). You need to follow the foot very closely and rapidly press the lick/attack button cn_A. When the foot turns a blue color and slows down it is getting low on health. Unfortunately if you stop or slow down on the attack the foot will regain all of it's health and the fight will never end, so use the rewind function to your advantage!

Just a heads up, the achievement seems to be glitched in a positive way. Not sure what I did special (if anything) however.

Loaded up the game, played the first bonus level, but failed to complete the first level. Achievement popped. May have just gotten lucky.

It is very difficult and frustrating but not impossible. My achievement didn't glitch like some and I was able to complete it.

I know I spent hours trying to kill that Ice Foot solo when I was young, and never managed it. Rewind made it quite doable, though.

Is there a way to add a co-op player mid-game? I haven't managed to get this solo but I also can't seem to add a second player.

Yeah...so...no earthly idea what I need to do to advance in this game, but I got this achievement first time playing...I could not have been past level 1. I just ate balls and licked feet and it popped for me.

I got frustrated after spending about half an hour trying to defeat the final boss, so I took a break, returned, then managed to beat the final boss 2nd attempt using rewinds. And because I'm a genius, after I defeated the boss, I rewound it to see how I did it, and haven't been able to do it again since, and since I didn't let it go to the credits, I don't have this achievement yet.

Used Xbox's "Record that" to record the previous 30 seconds too, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_mqrb6hluc Just in case anyone thinks I'm lying.

Generally speaking, the game isn't too hard to beat with the cheats enabled. Rewind is your best friend here!

The worst part, however, is the last boss. It is incredibly stupid, as you must continually lick the foot for what seems like 100 times without missing a beat. There really is no method to it, but I still found watching someone else do it made it seem possible to do. Credit goes to the owner, I had nothing to do with making it.

There are two ways to go about unlocking this achievement. To do this legitimately, you need to play through each of the game's 11 levels in sequence; once you complete the final level, the achievement for a full playthrough of the game should unlock. For the most part, the route through each level to reach the scales and the exit can be fairly easily discerned and the challenge is primarily one of execution. However, if you find yourself stuck at any point, I recommend the following video walkthrough:

In particular, be aware that the final level requires you to damage the boss (with your tongue attack) continuously and rapidly; any break in attacks will lead to the boss regenerating full health. This is very hard to do, but is possible once you're familiar with how to shadow the boss's movement patterns.

In the course of this playthrough, I'd recommend making a manual save just before completing level eight, to help with farming the achievement requiring a cumulative total of 1,000,000 points (see the "Tongue Lashing" achievement below).

Alternatively, for a much quicker way of unlocking this achievement, a glitch is, as of the time of writing, available to almost entirely bypass the playthrough (though note that the subsequent clean-up step will be significantly lengthened as a result). Simply ensure that the infinite lives cheat is disabled and then repeatedly allow your snake to die on the first level. Once you lose your last life and reach the game over screen, the achievement should unlock. Of course, this is a much less satisfying way to go about this step and potentially could be patched out at some future time.
