How to unlock the Lums Survival! achievement in Rayman Jungle Run - Definitive Guide
A few tips:
- There are 4500 lums in total thanks to the extra world in the Windows 8 version, so don't worry if you miss some.
- Get all the other achievements first so you are familiar with the levels.
- You don't have to worry about playing the bonus levels as they are automatically skipped (I think it would be impossible otherwise!)
- If there is a possibility you are going to die getting to some lums, leave them. The first 2 levels of World 5 have no ways of you dying, so that's 200 lums worth of breathing room.
- If you have 2 devices with Windows 8 installed play the game on both. I got the achievement playing on my Surface. So what I did was play it on the PC but not signed in to live. I then played through the level a few times on the PC until I was comfortable with the level, then finished it on my Surface.
- Pausing the game (or your screen turning off for a tablet) does not void the achievement.
- Using video guides for the levels...all are easily found on youtube (credit to EastX)
Other than that, it just requires a bit of patience. Good luck.
I have attached a video of me getting the achievement
Try get as many lums as you can, but don't worry if you miss some, as levels 5-1 through to 5-4 are very easy levels, this gives you 400 lums of breathing room.
The levels that caused me the most trouble were
2-7 (12.13) mostly cause of the thorn that chases you at the start.
A lot of World 3 has tricky bits if you don't know the levels well, after you memorise the levels, world 3 shouldn't give you too much trouble though.
World 4 right from 4-2 to 4-9 is the hardest part about this achievement, Many many times those levels made me fail.
4-2 (23.24) make sure you know where the enemies are and when you need to punch otherwise they'll catch you off guard and before you know it, it'll be too late
4-3 (24.19) again make sure you know where your enemies are, there are a lot of enemies right at the start of this level, and at the end. At the start jump on the third guys head.
4-4 (25.01) This level has a mix of Air punches and enemies, make sure your ready to punch all the time because you need to react on time.
4-5 (26.03) Again a lot of air punches. I recommend trying to grab the vine at (26.33) as I feel that to be the easier path. also after that at (26.39) do the biggest jump you can as I have missed his hand before and died. Also at (27.02) I recommend taking the upper path with only 1 bad guy as its the easier path. there is lum medal on the bottom path but with 400 lum breathing room, it is not worth the risk!
4-6 (27.19) ok in my opinion this is the hardest level in the game (other then the bonus levels, that get skipped) A lot of risky air punches and zipline punches, all of which is about timing. At (27.58) there is a zipline you'll be on you'll have to punch a bad guy while on it and jump to grab a green vine, MAKE SURE as soon as you grab the vine jump! QUICK or else you will hit the thorns!
4-7 (28.07) Again a lot of places you could die, biggest tip I have for this level is not to go for the lum medal at (28.45) I died twice going for that medal. It is not worth it, 400 breathing room is a lot, I needed less then 100, so you should be fine!
4-8 (29.07) Again a lot of places to die, just time your jumps and you should be fine, Note at (29.49) the ground below you drops, make sure to jump, I know its silly but you can die here
4-9 (30.10) mostly enemies and timed punches, this level is abit easier then the previous levels, but don't let that foul you, there is still many places you could die!
I hope this helps at least someone! :) this is frustrating but keep at it!
Sorry there's no sound, it recorded my tv in the background and it was kinder loud so i took it out.
However after one of the crashes I did just continue from where I left on till level 5-4/5-5 without failing. So if the above method won't work then I suggest you try this suggestion and after you've done that to retry the above.
Please leave a comment below if it worked for you as well or if you've managed to pop it using a different method then that information is very welcome as well so I can update this solution. I'm not 100% what made it pop for me but there is a good chance the above will help you. It did work for me.
Left side Menu !!? you mean snapped items from the top left corner ?
I have a lots of app crashing while playing for this achievement.. I hope u make this clear for me.
Now I don't know if Minesweeper had to do anything with it but this image shows how my screen looked right before opening the restarting Rayman: http://gyazo.com/9a078277b8dd438461a97c154b1b06c5
These achievements require that you collect the specified amount of Lums in a single playthrough, without dying and without retrying. These will provide the biggest challenge in the game, especially reaching 3600 Lums. Remember, there is actually 4500 total Lums in the game, so you technically only need to get 80% of them. There is no simple method to earning these. It will take tons of practice and dedication to be able to not only complete a flawless run of the game, but also collect nearly all of the Lums scattered throughout. A few tricks that could potentially make "Lums Survival" (and all of these achievements, more possible:
- If you have a second Windows 8 device (or have also purchased the game on Windows Phone 8), it is possible to play through the game a level ahead on the other device. That way you can become familiar with the level you are about to play. When you feel you are practiced enough and know the upcoming level and how to get the Lums and not die, get to it on the device you are working towards the achievement on.
- Similarly to #1, but not nearly as effective, if you dont have another device to play on simultaneously, use the video linked in "Fake Smile" to memorize what level is coming up next.
Some vital, though likely obvious, tips:
- When attempting these achievements, it is best to start on Level 1 of the Jump World (first world) to give yourself the easiest levels and the most amount of potential Lums to collect in one go.
- After you complete each level, be sure to hit the continue button to automatically move on to the next level. Never hit restart at the end of the level or during the level (the button in the top left corner).
- As mentioned in the achievement descriptions, you must also not die. Therefore, it is not wise to take unnecessary risks to get a few Lums.
- Try to collect the red hearts if you can. These will allow you take an additional hit before dying.
- These achievements will not unlock until the end of the level, so if you reach the milestones, be sure not to die before completing the level or the achievements will not pop.
- There is no in-game counter for this achievement. You must manually keep track of your total (at end of each level, it will show you how many Lums you collected).
- You only play through the 9 regular levels of each of the 5 worlds. The bonus levels are automatically excluded (thank god!).
- It is okay to pause the game and even let your screen lock on your computer. It will not void the achievement. However, you cannot return to the menu in any way.
Good luck! Earning the last of these achievements is quite a tough feat. Only about 3% of players ever managed to do it (according to the WP8 and W8 statistics on TA).
