Creatures are one of the random prizes awarded for scratching a lucky ticket. I unlocked this at roughly half way through the game by making sure I had enough lums for each level. However, as the prizes are random it make take slightly longer.

Collect enough lums in a level to earn an lottery ticket. There is one ticket per level including "Back To Origins". One of the prizes can be a creature. Once you have earned 30 return to the creature room to unlock the trophy.
