How to unlock the Nitro! achievement in Rayman Origins - Definitive Guide

Once you have completed a level on your first playthrough, the next time you replay that level again you will be able to unlock the Time Challenge.

These are definitely not easy to do as you are tested for your revision of the level off by heart and must quickly navigate your way to the goal/flag. Swimming levels seem much harder for some reason but maybe that is just me :/ The plain simple rule, stop for nothing and avoid everything! Keep RT held down at all times!

If you die whilst attempting the challenge, you will be sent back to the very beginning to start it again. If you manage to succeed, you will be rewarded a very lovely trophy and will be led back to the map selection. :P

There are some tricks you can do to help speed up your sprint to the finish:
RT + X (Dash attack actually makes you run quicker then running itself. Keep spamming that move when you are on flat terrain. Also when you get to the edge of a platform, if you can pull off a jump straight after RT + X you can execute a forward thrust alike jump that is the same speed as the attack. Jumping itself alone with the A button slows you down so this trick will help you keep moving, especially when crossing spacious platforms.)

X + Down, when in air (You perform a downward spike that drops you at high speed until you hit the ground. Helpful for drops when you want to get to the ground quick.)

I hope this helps you out! By the way don't forget you can always get some local friends to do this with you. Jussayin' :)

Holding RT and tapping X will also help you swim slightly faster.

So I don't know if it's just my game, but I won this after completing the time trial award for "On top of old smokey". I still haven't completed "Mecha no mistake".

The water levels for me were the easiest ones, most troubles I had with the Ice levels. I'm trying to complete each world one by one so the levels are still fresh. Overall it isn't THAT bad, just takes time and patience. Oh and without RT + X you will be UNABLE to beat the clock in water levels. also when in air jump quickly down with X when its possible, it will help you save few precious seconds

*oh and one more tip - try to find an extra heart before hitting the clock - that way you will be able to take one more hit before dying

FYI: I got all the water level time trophies withouth ever using the RT + X trick.

I got all trophies without the RT + X. It only makes you go faster for tiny bit, then really slows you down for a tiny bit, so all in all, I found it easier to not bother and keep better control of my character.

Do NOT use RT+ X, it won't make you swim faster, it'll be just more difficult. Tried few times with it, then made it witout on my first run.

X depends on character I think. Some really get a boost in acceleration (not speed) which helps. Fully completed the game twice in co-op now, simply awesome

@Evenger Ostro: They all give off the same boost distance. It's just their size that makes people assume differences between the characters. I always use Rayman. He's just so oblivious! :P

Its still not clear to me: do you need to beat the best time, or is the second time also enough for this achievement?

@xboxrjd: You need to beat the best time. The 2nd best time will award you a Electoon, whilst the best time will award you a Speed Trophy.

I passed all water levels (except one) without suing RT + X. It gives a speed boost greater than the slow down after! For me, the difficult stage were the ice ones and Mecha no mistake.

Does anyone recommend a specific character when going for the speed trophies?

Every single character performs exactly the same. Go for a character that you 'feel' has impact and is your favourite.

No problems. I always felt that Rayman was the best man for the job, showing off his long-ranged attacks, when actually Glowbox has the same hit distance except he is fat and chunky. laugh

when rayman is small he can also climb obstacles by wall jumping infinitely by RT + X to the right or left when in the air and then jumping from a wall and then doing it again. this might save some time on some levels, although the times you need to beat aren't that hard so you probably won't have to use it.

how long on average does it take folks to earn the speed trophies? I mean if I start from scratch now (and i' do a fair bit of platforming), is it really that much harder than say, sonic the hedgehog?

I had the speedruns quiet easily. I had the most trouble with treasure chest (part 2), and collecting the minimum 300 lums in the flying mosquito levels. Literally spent hours just the last flying stage.

Whoever designed the levels in this game is a cruel and heartless sadist. It was such a stress trying to get the Trophy on Mecha No Mistake.

This playlist shows every speed trophy. (By my count, there are 31.) It's PS3, but still applicable.

These videos were done by IGIPNP, not by me. The videos also show every hidden cage and how to get enough lums to fill each medallion.

@count023 That is probably an impossible judgement to make because it depends on the individual's skill level and ability to adapt. I'm only surmising here but on average maybe it would take 4 to 6 hours to earn all the speed trophies. Most of the speed trophies are surprisingly easy to get and the time requirements are fairly lenient. There are only a handful of stages where you seriously can't afford to waste too much time ("Mecha No Mistake" comes to mind). Also not all stages have speed trials. In fact of the 64 stages in the entire game, only 31 actually have speed trials. As the solution states, just keep sprinting cn_RT and use your cn_X or cn_B attack to create momentum while avoiding any enemies and obstacles along the way.

One thing that helped me was making sure I had a heart before I hit the clock to start the speed trial. Having a heart allowed me to take that needed extra hit so I wouldn't have to start the entire stage over as often. Also, NEVER pause and select "Restart Stage" or else you will lose your heart when you restart the stage.

While Sonic the Hedgehog is also a platformer I feel, mechanically, it's a completely different game from Rayman so I wouldn't worry to much about judging one's ability to earn this achievement based on that game.

You don’t just need to complete all the missions against the clock and get electuns (pink faces), but get gold cups for speedrunning. I also advise you to go through it with a friend, or two or three (it can save time - after all, you only have one life to complete the mission), or at least add more fun.

Some players try to get a few speed trophies and soon give up - some of them seem to be "not taken". It's no joke: you need to complete the entire level in one try, no more checkpoints between screens!

Start with the most difficult levels first. The order of passing the zones is as follows: Gloomy Clouds, Fragrant Lakes, Tasty Land, Mysterious Peak, Anxious Abyss, Sea of Serendipity, Rumbling Caves, Digiridoo Desert, Annoying Temples, Gibberish Jungle. If you adhere to this order, the difficulty of the stages will gradually decrease.

The levels of Gloomy Clouds seem incredible. It’s not easy to get to the finish line there, let alone meet the deadline! Do not despair. Before the race, go through the level a couple of times in normal mode, remember where the most dangerous sections and jumps are. The same goes for other stages. Remember, it's better to spend five minutes learning a level than to struggle for an hour trying to complete it on a speed test.

PS I almost forgot. If you press the kick button while running, Rayman will instantly speed up. Use this to accelerate quickly!

All levels are easy except 5, in my opinion 2 levels are difficult - this is the kitchen, level 1 is an ice location and 2 levels are in a car location (running combinations helped pressed while running and sharply In this way, the character moved faster over a short distance, but be careful, these combinations help well on the flat surfaces of the location and it is good for her to overcome chasms and some obstacles).

And here we remember the well-known series of games about Crash. After completing each level, you can go through it again, but for a while. For a certain period of time, you will add a pink firefly to your medal, and if you are even faster, you will receive a trophy for speed. To obtain previous similar achievements, receive a certain number of temporary trophies. To get this achievement you need to collect them all.
