How to unlock the Cave Explorer achievement in Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny - Definitive Guide

There are 15 dungeons in total and can be found both IN and OUTSIDE of towns. So explore when you can. I've listed all of the locations below, however, some locations are locked behind quests. You have to find the quest giver first to be able to access the location:

1. The Old Bailey in Thorwal. You need to visit a tavern, hear a rumor from the bartender, and then visit Master Durosh at the Bailey entrance (very large building to the South-East) to gain access.

2. The Dead Ship. This is a random encounter that counts as a dungeon. You need to hear the rumor about the ship from Thorwal taverns, and then travel by sea until you run into it.

3. Goblin Cave. On the path between Felsteyn and Orkanger, and does not require a quest.

4. Orc Cave. On the path to Skellen and Phexcaer, travel from Phexcaer to Skellen.

5. Dwarven Dungeon. Located inside the town of Upper Orcam, and can be accessed whenever, no quest needed.

6. Abandoned Mine: Inside the town of Prem, to the west. Can be accessed whenever, no quest needed.

7. Daspota Treasure Cave: On the path of Thoss and Rybon. It might require you to pick up a rumor at a tavern in Daspota first.

8. Abandoned Hostel. On the path to Ottarje and Daspota. Will require you to rest and explore an abandoned inn. No quest needed.

9. Wolf Den. Between Ottarje and Orvil. Will require you to investigate wolf tracks to find the cave, but does not require a quest.

10. Spider Cave. Between Ottarje and Skjal. No quest required.

11. Pirate Cave. On the road of Manrin and Brendhil. Does not require a quest, but when resting with a local hunter, he will tell you that the cave is nearby.

12. Pirate Cave. Below on the map is a small place called Runinshavn island. There are three paths to take to reach the Lighthouse. You want to take the middle path. No quest needed.

13. Temple of the Nameless One. Found on the Hjalland path when returning or going backwards around the island. Requires you to speak to Elaine to advance the main questline, in Varnhome.

14. Black Magician Lair. Between Rybon and Thoss, requires the quest from Yasma in Thoss first.

15. Hyggelik's Ruin. This is one of the last main questline locations, and you will not be able to find it until you've collected 7 out of 9 map pieces. Map pieces are found by location people of interest and doing their quests, so this should be one of your last objectives.


For those marked with "main questline" above, it means that you need to find map pieces until you are directed towards that person or place. It's possible to run out of time and "lose" the game by not finishing the main quest in time, so it's wise to finish the main questline objectives first and then come back to the other dungeons.

Your progress with dungeons will save across playthroughs. Once you've visited each one, the achievement will unlock. You do not need to "clear" a location of enemies or loot for it to work. You just need to go inside and the achievement tracker will update.
